Review

I have traded cars every 24 months since 1987 until the 2000 Silverado. I've driven it 48 months. I had differential bearing failure ($1400 - 50% GM regional repayment)at 45K miles and anti-Lok light in the winter until the system is warm. Michelin 265/70-16 SUV Terrain tires and top end Monroe shocks improved the ride to almost perfect. 16.8 C/H MPG average no better on the highway only (80+ MPH usually). Parking brake has little holding power. Replaced all 4 brakes at 80K miles and was advised that 50% material remained. Previous generations got only 30K miles, so I'm making up for the bearing failure in reduced brake service.

Favorite Features

Console with notepad holder. Rear seat flips up for easy dog travel.

Suggested Improvements

Change the rear doors to a slide like a van or a double hinge that opens back toward the box. The rear door is almost useless in a parking lot unless you have an open space on either side. Not likely in Atlanta.

Review

Bought used and love the truck, only maintenance issue was fuel injector pressure regulator $90 @ 49k. Truck hauls boat like a dream ( 4000 lbs) and gets 15-16 while towing on open road. In town mileage 14-15 and 16-17 on highway. Great looks and peppy even with small V-8.

Favorite Features

Smooth ride on highway-great looks

Suggested Improvements

Daytime driving lights don't seem to last. I have replaced both sides.

Review

Awesome truck...solid, reliable, comfortable, solid off-road performance. Over 45K miles and running great. Parking can be a challenge, especially in cramped areas. Will definately buy another Chevy truck.

Favorite Features

Interior room, especially the back seat.

Suggested Improvements

Reduce road noise, turning radius (tough to park in cramped quarters)

Review

Performance is very good, I am a little concerned about the transmission and the Aluminum driveshaft. At 23000 miles I have had no problems with the vehicle other than a readjust of the idle once by the dealer. Mileage has been good with about 16 mpg city and 19 mpg highway with a 5.3l engine with a 4wd vehicle with an automatic transmission. I pretty happy with the truck.

Review

Great truck. Would recomend it to anyone. This truck runs strong, though haven't had the chance to tow anything with it yet. Unfortunately running up the milage up and down the road. Very comfotable truck. Back seat is large enough for adults, so fits the kids great.

Favorite Features

Fog lamps and center console.

Suggested Improvements

The transmission yoke squeeks when pulling up from a stop. Don't know if Chevy adjusted this, but the dealership just greased it. Lasted about 10K miles. Very annoying

Review

Love this truck,at 48,800 miles, it has been wonderful! Bought new, will keep until it wears out! Traded 1999 Ford F-150 4x4 for this and what an improvement! Just purchased first set of new tires.

Favorite Features

Exterior looks ( admit Ford interior some what nicer ). Great mpg, wonderful ride, supper reliable, easy to get in and out of.

Suggested Improvements

Better interior matierals. Dash is some what cheap! Power seat needs more to lift you higher.

Great Truck. Driven many others at I would take this one every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Plenty of Muscle as well. If you put about a grand into the 5.3 engine you will be smoking Ford Lightings in no time.

Review

Great truck. I own the Z71, No real problems after 75,000. Only been in the shop once for repair. 4WDR console went out after 30,000 and A/C drainage clogged so flooded the baseboards. Tranny clunk when shifting into reverse. Engine runs great and plenty of power while getting about 18mpg. Interior is more comfortable than most cars especially the back seat, after driving the Dodge and Ford this is a caddy. Doesn't have to try and look like a big rig to impress, does all that under the hood.

Favorite Features

simple design while giving you everything you need a truck for. Solid vehicle, was rear ended by a semi going about 15 mph and he hit me in the trailer hitch, all he did is send me forward a ways and dent my bumper.

Suggested Improvements

Built in Tailgate lock standard, side opening console/arm rest, cup holder location drinks get in the way of dash controls when being used.

Review

At 86000 miles, the only thing I've had to do is change the oil, put a new set of tires on it, and put gas in it. Still runs like I bought it yesterday. Can you believe I'm still running on the original brakes??

Favorite Features

By far the 5.3L V-8 is the best light duty truck engine out there...Hands down!! What other V-8 pulling 4000 lbs. can average 20/mpg on the highway?? Uuummm...none!!!

Suggested Improvements

Use of better materials on the dash would be nice... way too much plastic. Cloth bucket seats slouch down too much... after all, it is a truck, so you should be able to sit up high.
