300 pounds is significantly behind?. The GM HDs' tow 16,000 pounds, which is what people who do real towing use. If you had a 10,000 pound trailer, would you buy a 1/2 ton pickup to tow it? We own a 2002 Silverado Z71 and a 2000 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8. The Silverado has 13,000 miles on it and the Tundra has 40,000.
