2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LTZ 2dr Coupe (3.9L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I got my LTZ at the end of May. The car is great. Since I got the car. no problems with it at all. The 3.9 v-6 has plenty of power. Why they did away with it in '07 beats me. The dealer has already contacted me twice about selling the car back to them because of the demand for the '06. Just in case you all don't know, they do not make the LTZ in '07.

Favorite Features

OnStar is great to have. I love the sound system. The ride is great.

Review

Since I purchased my Monte Carlo, I've had no problems with it. The gas mileage isn't bad for a V-8. The car is comfortable to drive. Very roomy for taller people. The way the back seat opens into the trunk is very useful for carrying things. With no molding on the exterior sides, I have to be careful where I park. Overall this is the first car I've had in a long time I plan to keep beyond two years.

Favorite Features

Exterior looks. Stereo system is great also.

Suggested Improvements

Everything is fine with me.

So far, I love this car! It has classy style, power, and safety features rolled into one fantastic dream car. Everything you could want in a car, except for DVD or navigation system, but OnStar and hands-free phone is cool.

Favorite Features

Remote start, OnStar, handsfree phone, and XM radio with 6 CD changer.

Suggested Improvements

There is a blindspot from the wide frame between the front and rear window. Make sure you watch carefully when you back up.

This car rides very smooth. Handles easy. Impressed with the gas mileage that we get around town. Lots of trunk space. Plenty of room to move around inside the car.

Favorite Features

Like the sporty look. Has a nice sounding stereo system. Also like OnStar and the information center.

Suggested Improvements

Change spoiler . Lays flat on trunk.

I really liked my car for the first 3000 miles or so but it suddenly became sluggish, I now find myself competing with 4 cylinder engines with a slight tapping sound under the hood while at a stand still. Also a quart of oil has been burned now at 3500 miles. I am really aggravated by how much a car can change over so few miles. Reminds me of that freind that stabbed you in the back. My 2001 Acura was much more potent than this vehicle with less horsepower and displacement and more weight. Please explain this one. Gas mileage also stinks on this new car. I went from a 2004 Chevy Colorado with the 3.5 litre 5cyl to this one. Truly disappointed and thought it would be better!

Favorite Features

OnStar

Suggested Improvements

A more refined engine, like dohc, especially with the variable valve timing component involved. I do not think the oil life monitor is very accurate either based upon engine behavior.

What a car. Chevy did a great job on this one. Keeping gas mileage in mind with the most horsepower for your money. The big polished wheels give it that new sporty look that everyone wants. Performance prospective this thing has some good kick. With the sunroof, 6 disc changer, and racing feel to it, this one will turn some heads.

Favorite Features

Performance, sporty looks, sunroof, and 6 disc changer.

Suggested Improvements

Make the passenger seat full power and adjustable like the driver seat.

Review

Before I bought the car I was considering the Ford Mustang. I am a tall person and the Monte Carlo fit my bill better plus the front wheel drive is better than the rear wheel drive on the Mustang. So far I've driven the car 700 miles and have been averaging 20.7 to 21 miles per gallon overall. Not bad for a v8. I also like the comfort of the leather seats with the lumbar support. If you have back problems itÂ’s great. The stereo system is excellent, also the remote start is awesome too. Overall I'm very happy I bought the Monte Carlo instead.

Favorite Features

My favorite features are the remote start heated leather seats the lumbar support in the seats and the performance and good gas mileage of the V8.

Suggested Improvements

The position of the heater controls is in a real bad spot by the shift lever. And also I think the highway mileage displayed on the sticker price should be changed from 28 miles per gallon to more like 25 miles per gallon.

Review

I've had a 2002 Monte and after I had a lot of stuff go wrong with it, I looked into getting a new car. I narrowed my choices to 3 cars. Mustang, Monte and Charger. Mustang way too small. Charger has more power. But only 2/10 of a sec quicker. Plus doesn't have some of the features that I like. The Monte has everything but a DVD nav system. Cell phone, on star, DOD (charger doesn't let you know when its active or not.) Remote start. I think alot of people need to rethink the GM's lineup. There cars have power not stuck at 200 HP like in the past. This car all around better then 2000-2005 Monte year. MPG for me is around 15.8. Sorry people, you have to pay for power.

Favorite Features

Remote start that heats and cools the car depending on how cold are how hot it is out side.( Also turns on defost for back and front windwos when its to cold.) Headed seats, onstar DOD Tells you when its on or not. V8 Engine. Leather seats are better also along with the rest of the car insides.

Suggested Improvements

Radio. The power button is right in the way when you put the car in park. Sometimes it gets truned off when I dont want it to. I notice a lot of people want RWD but I'm not trying to race everyone so FWD is good for me. Resetting the seats everytime you let someone in the backset. 3 minor things.

I really like it, but the suspension is a little stiff. I don't know if it's because it is new or it has a sports suspension, but I can feel all the bumps in the road. Also, the wind noise is a little bit high for this type of car.

Favorite Features

I love the tire pressure monitor in the computer, the integrated garage door opener buttons and the way it accelerates.

Suggested Improvements

A little softer suspension and cut the wind noise.
