2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LTZ 2dr Coupe (3.9L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I usually drive a 93 T-bird to work, but after a while a can't wait to get the Monte out. Very good in all aspects of performance and very nice styling. It turns heads. I haven't liked a vehicle I owned this much since my '88 T-bird. This LTZ is fun to drive and a pleasure to own. It seems like a lot of car for the money.

Favorite Features

Engine performance and the fact it came loaded with what normally would be options.

Suggested Improvements

More comfortable seats and wider door openings. It's hard to get into the back seat.

Car would not start 2 times, had it towed. Constant light surging, even with cruise on. Cold starts result in hesitation on take off, even once backfiring. The dealer naturally says they cannot duplicate these driveability issues. Big mistake getting this car, it will be gone soon. Oh, the car is 3 months old.

Review

I am very disappointed with my 2006 Monte Carlo purchase. The car is very uncomfortable, and the interior is very plain. My previous car was a 1998 Monte Carlo, and the interior in that model is much more elegant, and the seats were comfortable, unlike the 2006 model. I would never buy another Monte Carlo again, or a Chevy. There is much more I do not like about the car, but itÂ’s too much to type.

Fast and efficient. The D.O.D is the best feature. It gives you power when you need it and fuel efficiency when you reach desired speed. It corners like a dream and looks sexy.

Favorite Features

Black leather interior and ground effects.

A wonderful car for under $30,000. The V8 is powerful and quiet when driving. I love all the room in the backseat and in the trunk. This is the only sporty 2 door I found that was big enough for 2 children.

Favorite Features

My favorite features are the heated leather seats, and the sporty good looks of the exterior. And of course, the power of the V8!

Suggested Improvements

The only thing I would improve is the gas mileage, but I guess with a V8 its not that bad.

2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LTZ 2dr Coupe (3.9L 6cyl 4A)

Review

We have put about 1200 miles on our '06 Monte. So far it has been a real fun ride. The interior is roomy enough. The kids fit fine in the back seat. Not real practial with children, but oh well. The heated seats and stereo are great. The car has a fairly stiff suspension and hugs the road well. You do feel most bumps in the road. Braking is very strong and the steering gives you a solid feel of the road. The car feels solid and substantial. The 3.9l V6 is plenty powerful for us with lots of passing power. Fuel economy is running about 23 around town and 27-28 on the highway. Overall, we are very pleased with the car and have not had second thoughts about our selection.

Favorite Features

Heated seats, stereo, ride, acceleration/power, the economy computer, and oil life/tire pressue sensors.

Suggested Improvements

The insteps on the doors could use a guard against being scratched. The pillar on the driver side creates a blind spot The spoiler traps water when washing making it difficult to get a good drying without lots of water drips.

One of the most solid cars I have driven. Could have done without the XM radio. CDs sound great, 6 disk is the ticket. Added chrome exhaust tips from dealer, which finishes the back end nicely.

Favorite Features

Suggested Improvements

Chrome exhaust tips for all dual models.

Review

I got the car new in June of 2006 from a dealer my father works at. I love this car. It is my second Monte Carlo, but I have to be honest this new one has had a lot of problems. The car throws out black smoke out of the exhaust (the dealers can't figure out why even after 4 visits) The driver seat stopped working and the A/C unit only works half of the time. A replacement unit has been on order for a month. This is my 4th new Chevy and I have never had one with the list of problems this one has had. I would recommend the car if it all the problems were fixed, but until then, wait for the 2007 so hopefully the problems will be solved

Favorite Features

The new interior is great and has a lot of power for a car getting 31 mpg

Suggested Improvements

Reliabilty and GM releasing new cars with tons of little problems. Fix the problems in the designing stage of production or delay release

2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS 2dr Coupe (5.3L 8cyl 4A)

Review

This car is the best car that I've had from Chevrolet. I owned a Hummer and got rid of it because all of my kids drive now, so I don't need all the space. This car caught my eye right away and I've have the same feeling everytime I look at it. The V8 rumble is never over exhilirating and the DOD works awesome. Off the line torque steer is a little bit overwhelming sometimes but it quickly gets back on track.

Favorite Features

My favorite feature is the vibration free 5.3L V8. The roominess and the quietness and the ride quality is a lot better than past years Monte's even with stiffer spring rates. Good job!

Suggested Improvements

The seats might be a little firm for some people. Make the passenger seat have the same seat control as the driver's. Make the car RWD

Review

I got my LTZ at the end of May. The car is great. Since I got the car. no problems with it at all. The 3.9 v-6 has plenty of power. Why they did away with it in '07 beats me. The dealer has already contacted me twice about selling the car back to them because of the demand for the '06. Just in case you all don't know, they do not make the LTZ in '07.

Favorite Features

OnStar is great to have. I love the sound system. The ride is great.
