i would have the positive battery wire checked or just have it replaced. the short story is that i had an 03 with the same problem and an 03 silverado. as well as knowing a few people who have chevys around the same year with the same problem... hope this helps.

JUST FINISHED REPLACING HEADS, HEAD GASKETS, RADIATOR FAN, AND BATTERY ( FOR THE SECOND TIME). CAR STILL WONT RUN RIGHT, NO TURN SIGNALS, NO INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND THERES A CLICKING NOISE IN PASSENGER SIDE FUSEBOX, AND SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL LOSE ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING IT. CAR WILL CUT OFF, GAUGES STOP WORKING AND EVERYTHING. BATTERY WILL NOT HOLD A CHARGE, HAVE HAD ALTERNATOR AND STARTER TESTED, WITH GOOD RESULTS...

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo and have had similar problems as the ones Ive read about here. The security system is completely screwed up. I went to the chevy website that you listed in your post and I filed a complaint. I was contacted the next day. I was told that noone else has filed this particular complaint so there was no recall on it. I have read enough on ... Read More

I have a 2001 Chevy monte carlo ss. I have never had problems with my transmission until now. When I first start it up it shifts great and accelerates great.
