Review

2nd Metro I've owned and reliability was reason for purchasing again. I had 187000 on first Metro and was on original engine, clutch, and transmission. This one does not get the mileage the first one got and not as peppy either. It is more comfortable and has a/c.

Favorite Features

mileage, parking, tight situations, and winter driving. Like the old beetle what little weight there is, is over the driving wheels. Goes when bigger heavier vehicles won't.

Suggested Improvements

Chevy dicontinues the 55 m.p.g. detuned 3 cyl (XFI) model. 2000 last year for 3cyl., not good! Now I hear no more metro, what a shame! Again don't dicontinue what works improve on it. Shame on Chevy and Suzuki

I am a student, so this car is awsome for me. Less insurance and less gas to keep me going. Only thing I had to redo to the car is new alternator. But thats because I added subwoofers.

Favorite Features

Low on insurance and great on gas. Perfect for me

Suggested Improvements

wish had 6x9 instead of 6.5" for speakers

1st metro was a '97 w/ 49k. Drove it to 100k, NEVER a problem, not one! A lady smashed into the side of me at full speed, outside driver side door was completely mangled and buckled in, but the inside looked like nothing had happened (great car construction). I was amazed, walked away without a scratch. Car even still ran! Once insurance co settled purchased a 2000 w/ 34k. Have been driving it for 8 months, love these cars!

Favorite Features

Lots of room inside. Great for city & no problem getting in and out of small parking spaces that others must pass up. WONDERFUL on gas. VERY reliable.

Suggested Improvements

the cupholder is too close to the dash, can't fit most drinks in normally, and can't put it in park with a large cup in the holder. not much of a gripe, like I said before, great car!

This is a great car is you want to get from point A to point B. I love it, it has great milleage. It might be a little smaller then your average car, but if you want something that is good enough to get you from one place to another with out alot of trouble, this car will do just fine.

Favorite Features

I love the low gas mileage of course. I also like how it appears small but is much bigger in the inside. I find alot of room.

Suggested Improvements

Sterring sometimes is hard to turn. the plastic inside could be better, cup holders, vents, ect.

ok, ok. So it's small, but probably much bigger that you think. This is a car created specifically for the just out of college, kind of got a job, but it's far away - no family person. When I bought it, I didn't want a cavalier and focuses & echos were brand new (and not available in my area), so this was I got. I love it. My insurance is cheap and all I've had to fix is the air filter.

Favorite Features

I love the head room and the fold down seats. Low gas mileage always is a +! I hit a deer and it is surprisingly much tougher than it seems (only a ding!)

Suggested Improvements

Defrost. For some reason I just can't get the car to defrost on warm rainy nights.

Review

I've owned a 2000 4-dr Metro for over 2 years and have driven it to/from work plus two Texas-MN cross cross-country trips, one of them the winter with blizzards and all. I am VERY pleased with my Metro. It's not a Lexus, but it cost a bunch less than one too. It's also no Yugo. It gets me from A-B comfortably, is very dependable, good on gas, etc. Every once in a while I wish I had this or that car instead, but then I think of all the cold, hard $$$ I am saving.

Favorite Features

Low cost, comfort, headroom, good design, lots of cargo room for the size, carries a Xmas tree better than a Ford Expedition.

Suggested Improvements

Bring it back!

For what this car is about, getting from point A to point B it does it, and with little gas. At 6'2" it is not the car for me but for my wife it works fine. Credit card dollars helped reduce the cost of this car to < $6000 new. So, that helped.

Favorite Features

Gas Mileage and size for in-city driving.

Suggested Improvements

None.

Review

I average about 45 mpg, commuting on highway, some mountainous road, and some stop&go commuting. I have about 100,000 miles on my 2000 Metro, with no mechanical problems whatsoever. I replace the oil/filter every 5k miles, and have replaced the plugs, the manual transaxle fluid, the brake pads, and the tires once each, every thing else is original. It handles very well under all conditions (except for high winds). Acceleration is not great, especially with air conditioning on, but it's acceptable.

Favorite Features

Gas mileage, maneuverability, ease of parking, low-cost maintenance.

Suggested Improvements

Better insulation against road noise. More effective window defroster.
