2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LS 4dr Hatchback (3.5L 6cyl 4A)

At the test drive I explain to the dealer that there is strange noise, the answer--this is a different car, engine sounds different. At 400 miles has several problems--including severe one: needs major transmission work! Dealership gives me headaches with repair--they would give me a rental car, but only for the first three days, and repairs will take longer. Not to "waste" my three days over the weekend, they let me take back my car but I "should drive the car as little as possible not to cause more damage"! GM customer service explained to me how I can ask coworkers/friends to drive me around or get a taxi!!! This is my fourth GM car in a row and this was my last GM one, end of story!
Favorite Features
Good set of standard fetures.
Suggested Improvements
Get the quality better, to many deffects in a brand new vehicle!

I'm having a ball driving this head- turner. I traded my 2003 Trailblazer because of its bad gas mileage in-town and highway (never better than 16-18 mpg). The 2004 Malibu Maxx LT has met all my expectations--it really does get 32 mpg on the highway and it really hauls! I am having run zipping around town and sieze any opportunity for a road trip. Love the roomy interior with space for me and four friends and the cargo room is exceptional for a midsize car. Get one and get fun!
Favorite Features
Easy load lightweight hatchback. Leather seats. Perky V-6 engine. !XM radio
Suggested Improvements
Couldn't think of anything that would make it any better. Maybe a darker tint on the windows?
Try it!

If you haven't driven a Chevy in a few years, you will be very impressed. My Malibu Maxx is highly competative with all other mid-size cars, foreign or domestic. The hatchback is so useful, I don't understand why most Americans are opposed it to. You get all of the utility of an SUV with MUCH better gas milage and much better performance, plus a lower sticker price. In addition, Chevy has packed so much standard equipment in, I keep finding little details that make me say "Hey, that's cool......"
Favorite Features
The remote starter is awesome. The rear seat skylights, adjustable pedals, sliding rear seats, steering wheel radio controls, and auto headlamps are also very much appreciated. The well -controlled, quite ride is nice as well.
Suggested Improvements
I don't love the electric steering, but I'm getting use to it. Also, I would like to see a smaller Chevy emblem on the front and rear, but overall, the car is very well designed as is.

Between the GM rebates, GM card earnings redemption, end of year dealer discount, and GMAC rebate, we saved over $10,000 off the window price of $23,150. Truly a lot of car for the money! The styling takes a little getting used to, but the creature comforts in this base LS model with the preferred package is just overwhelming.
Favorite Features
Plenty of power, room, comfort, and safety features. Remote start should be handy this winter. Vehicle has only 350 on it and gets over 26 mpg.
Suggested Improvements
The headrests are terrible, and the neutral interior is very light in color ( may get dirty easily)

Me and my wife test drove this car and fell in love with it from the get go.My son loves the dvd in the back, which makes driving that much more less stressfull. With the wireless headphones that come with the care my son puts on the headset and just pays no mind. The driving control is great! And outstanding gas mileage!!! Plenty of room in the back for a vacation.
Favorite Features
DVD, Satellite Radio,Sunroofs,On-Star system,Dash Display and how it tells you just about when you need an oil change, about how much mileage you can get on your tank of gas. The gas and brake pedals can adjust to your height as well with the seat and steering wheel.
Suggested Improvements
Better quality speakers for the stereo, and more room for a car seat to fit in the back(can be a little bit of a struggle to put one in.

It took a lot for me to convince my husband to get a car vs. another SUV or truck. But when he got into this car, he loved it and still does. So much better on gas mileage and very fun to drive.
Favorite Features
6 disc CD player and rear skylights.

I've had my Maxx 2 months now and have 6,000 miles on it, so this is an update review. The car is still a gem-- handles well, gets great gas mileage, and the engineering is suburb. I get comments from everyone about how they like the look of it and they love the green color. I like that it's a trouble- free car with all the features the "better" cars have... at a great price. I'm doing more 'round-town driving' now, and the car performs as well as it did on the long vacation trip. This car has it all!!!
Favorite Features
Same as before: the suede seat center portion added to the leather, handling, gas mileage, cargo space.
Suggested Improvements
Same as before: Having the gas fill-up on the passenger side is a real pain at busy gas pumps (can't get in line easily) and those darned snap-open shades on the sun-roof windows in back.

GM PAID ATTENTION TO ALL THE DETAILS HERE. QUITE IMPRESSED WITH THE STANDARD FEATURES ON THE LT MODEL. DID HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK FOR "CHECK GAS CAP" ERROR. ORDERED NEW CAP.

PAINTED EXTERIOR MIRRORS. BETTER SHADE CLIPS FOR SUN ROOF.

My wife and I decided it was time to trade in our SUV. After looking a little we spotted the MAXX. It was a great alternative to an SUV due to the large storage space in the rear and better MPG. We would highly recommend this car to any family. Only wish we would have gotten the optional DVD player for our child.
Favorite Features
Tailgate table (perfect for a changing table.)Also remote starter.
Suggested Improvements
Better gas milage. I think that all cars should get a least 50 to 75 MPG but oil companies would never let it happen.

I waited 3 months for the Maxx to be launched and love the cool features! I wasn't sure about driving a mid size sedan after a convertible but it is a lot of fun to drive - a perfect choice. My son loves the moon roof over the back seat and likes to recline the seat on long rides. I like that he has the legroom and doesn't kick me fidgeting to get comfortable.
Favorite Features
Remote start, rear moon roof, quiet, fun to drive, roomy (my husband fits comfortably!), plows through the snow like a champ with great braking control
Suggested Improvements
Stereo hasn't won me over yet, cool design to go with cool features (ie shift lever ugly), moon roof shades too sensitive and kids flip them open with loud snap (worried they will break)
