2013 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 4dr Sedan w/2LZ (2.0L 4cyl Turbo 6A)
This is the third Malibu we have purchased since 2004 (from the same dealer and the same sales representative) and each model has been better than its predecessor. The 2013 model has an excellent power train Ė the 2.0 liter turbo charged 4-cylinder engine, coupled with the new 6-speed automatic transmission, performs better than the 3.0 liter V6 engine in our previous 2008 model.
The interior and exterior are both well designed, the interior is comfortable, and the car drives and rides well.
I have only driven the vehicle 200 miles to date so canít comment on fuel economy yet, although my first top-up suggests that it will meet the EPA city mileage estimate.
Really useful features include the electric parking brake and the trunk lid that opens fully when you press the remote button, lots of storage space, increased cargo space, and a higher trunk opening.
The additional safety features (rear view camera, lane departure warning, and front collision warning) are great, although I canít quite understand why GM didnít include the audible rear parking warning system on the LTZ.
Overall, this is a really nice vehicle (now that the power door locks work).
1. All power door locks were inoperative when I got the vehicle home. The dealerís service
technician found that the driverís door latch and linkage rods were incorrect (made for a Buick Lacrosse and GM issued a Technical Service Bulletin on this problem on May 1, 2012).
The technician installed
correct parts but found that the door locks were still inoperative.
He then found that the window run track in the right rear door was bolted on top of a wiring harness and had damaged or cut eight wires. Repair of wires resolved the problem.
GM needs to improve quality control.
