They already have 4 and 6 speeds available, so they don't want to bother designing a new 5-speed. There will be a 6-speed 4 cylinder LTZ in February and the 6-speeds will be in the other 4 cylinders by 2010 models, if not sooner. I have recently read that the lease residuals on the 2008 Malibu are only going to be a couple points less than a Camry, so maybe I ... Read More

I'm going to go look at one in a few months. I already know the black and brick colored interior is a no-sale. I'll see if the "cocoa" LTZ interior looks better in real life than the rendering on the Chevy web site. Otherwise, it will need to be a 2LT if the old 4-speed automatic is livable or else some other vehicle not from Chevrolet. I want better fuel economy ... Read More
"Has anyone seen the Accord for 2008? From the photos, it looks pretty good to me." No surprise there. The car isnt ugly but its far from the best looking in class. When there are so many cars of nearly equal size and performance I see no reason to get a boxy Accord. Plus the 2009 6 is coming out next year and based on the pic released it seems to ... Read More

I don't see Chevy making the Malibu RWD anytime soon. That would be foolish considering the Malibu is a volume seller (fleets and othewise) Chevy has the highest brand recognition and the biggest dealer network. Chevy is GM's largest brand and GM as a company needs to keep at least one fully mainstream sedan to compete head to head with the likes of the Accord and Camry. Making the Malibu RWD ... Read More
I don't think "giant" question mark is a fair statement. There might be something unique about the Malibu that could prove to be problematic, but the bulk of the essentials (drivetrain, basic platform and such) aren't new, but have been proven in other vehicles. The Malibu shares its platform with the Saturn Aura; I honestly haven't spent much time researching the engines yet, but as far as I know they aren't ... Read More

The next Impala due in 2009 will be RWD and based on the same platform as the Austrailan cars. The Pontiac G8 will be imported from Austrailia as soon as this year. GM will be bringing its foreign products here (Astra is coming as well) but you have to remember its much easier to sell great cars in Europe because they can charge a premium price for small and midsize cars ... I took delivery of my silver Maxx LS on 10-18-04. The vehicle was a base LS with no add ons. It too was a dealer demo driven by one of the dealership's sales managers since May 04. It had 7100 miles and had the 7500 mile service completed. I was very happy with the service and sales at Mirak Chevrolet. I feel like I got a great deal on this car ... Read More
