Compared to the current Malibu it "looks" much bigger, closer in size to the Impala than the 2012. Interesting... If I remember the specs at Edmunds' correctly, 2013 is 3 or 4 inches wider than 2012 but not bigger in any other respect, and they (Edmunds.com) introduce the upcoming model this way: ... Rental cars aren't the best determination as they all are not taken care of, properly maintained, and they are beat to heck by everyone who uses them. I received an invitation from a local Chevy dealer guaranteeing a trade-in allowance of $15,255 on my 2008 Malibu LS. Is it too early to begin discussing the new Malibu? Motor Trend has a review in its September issue and yesterday I saw a 2013 Malibu on the streets of Boston. It looks nice but anonymous, perhaps too much of a Camry clone. Nothing like the impact of the 2008 - 2012 Malibu. I know change is inevitable but in this case it is not for the better.

Fleet cars car rental agencies buy are not the same as consumer purchase cars: http://www.gmfleet.com/pages/submodelOptionalEquipment/2008_Chevrolet_Malibu+Fle- et.jsp
Well, we took the plunge and my wife bought a Malibu today. We shopped the Camry XLE, Honda Civic EXL, Acura TSX and the Malibu LTZ but ended up buying a Malibu LS. An LS? Yes, the base LS but with a twist. First we test-drove the LT2, 4-cylinder. My wife loved it. Then we drove the LTZ. She loved it especially the two-tone leather. However, she did not see much ... There will be a 4 cylinder LTZ coming IN SPRING 2008. I said spring in the previous posts, so I don't see why it was confusing. This has already been announced for the LTZ, but no time frame has been given for the other 4 cylinder models. You cannot buy it today, but it will be available before summer. Chevy will not put it on their Malibu web page until it ... Read More

While others might complain that the SE was missing from these comparisons, I'm not going to argue the point. It's just not worth it at all. I personally think that the LE option was the best choice for this particular comparison between the Malibu and Accord, as it is Toyota's best selling option. After reading that in Edmunds' 2008 V6 Comparison test that was published about three weeks ago and seeing ... Read More
I love the new looks of the '08 models. I think Chevy has a big hit on their hands. They are very comfortable and I love the options. They drive very nicely, even the 2.4L one. I wish more of the Chevy cars had the pedal adjuster.
I can predict that this year Accord will relegate Camry to 2nd place as a most popular car. Malibu has a chance to be #3. Oh I doubt that. Honda doesn't bargain. And Camry sales are up. What 10 Best award do you mean? MY fault. I meant Automobile magazine's 10 Allstars of 2008. Accord is a big car with same if not better mpg than Malibu and it is what ... Read More
Thanks, I appreciate the information. I finally know the main differences between the LT1 and LT2.
The LT1 Malibu is VERY much like an Accord LX-P. The 2.4L 4-cyl and 4-speed only, cloth seats, 17" chrome wheels, extra small chrome and painted touches outside, power features, and steering wheel audio controls. Then from there, you can option to add a convenience package (remote start, power pedals, and power driver's seat) and a power sunroof. The LT2 builds from there, starting with the same 2.4L 4-cylinder, but remote ... Read More
Jaxs1, I just leased one today. It's a 2008 Malibu 2LT with the engine package with bodyside molding and red jewel tint coat. Total MSRP is $25,140. I have it on a 24 month lease with 15,000 miles per year for $520 per month, including taxes. I put no money down, but had to pay almost full MSRP ($25,004.05) with license, documentation fees and admin fees of $1,383.35 for a total ... Read More
