Hi bwia: Thank you for your posting. I will be going to an auto show at a community college in New York State. There will be a Chevrolet dealer at the show, so just maybe there will be a 2013 Malibu that I can look at!!!!!!!! My basic concerns are vehicle ride, seat comfort and mpg. I am lucky because I have two great dealers in terms of service, (Chevrolet & ... Read More
HI ALL: -----------I am looking forward to seeing the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. It is going to have a 2.5 four cylinder engine. Since the Chevrolet dealer up-dated the software in my 2010 - 4 cylinder Malibu is drives GREAT! ----- I easily get 30 mpg at 60 mph. ----- On a long road highway trip I get 33 mpg with 87 octane off brand fuel. ---- (I still service the engine ... Good Morning pao: You make some very interesting points. With regards to the longevity of the timing chain, I would compare that to the longevity of a timing belt. ---- Most timing belts are replaced around 90,000 miles or six years which ever comes first! ---- I would expect that a timing chain would last a least 90,000 miles easily! ----- But the chains are failing as early as 4,000 miles ... Hi dispencer2: I am seriously staring to look for a replacement for my 2007 XLE V6 Toyota. I will probably make a purchase next Summer. ------- I want to see the new Impala and the new Malibu. Good Morning bwia: I will be looking at that vehicle to replace my 2007 V6 XLE Toyota Camry. --- I presently also own a 2010 Chevrolet 4 cyl. Malibu LTZ and I like the vehicle. Hi All: I am starting to seriously look for a replacement vehicle for my 2007 Toyota Camry V6 XLE. ------- (This process will take me about a year because I take the time to investigate both the vehicle, the manufacturer and the dealer.) I'd look seriously at the Avalon if you are contemplating a high end model in Chevrolet. I owned a 2006 Impala and it was an ok car but the bottom of the seats were too short. Hi dispenser2: I still own the 2007 XLE Toyota Camry. ----------- I purchased the LTZ Malibu because I thought it was a "cool vehicle!" ---- I liked the looks of the car. ----- I recently read that the 2012 Chevrolet Impala is going to have a 3.6 V6 with a six speed automatic transmission. ----- (This could be very interesting!) ---- I am presently looking for a replacement for my 2007 ... Hi Paul1018: I purchased a new 2010 Chevrolet 2.4 / 6 speed Malibu in June 2010. Hi dispence2: Thank you for sharing your opinion.------ Your ideas are greatly appreciated, but your concept of my 2007 Toyota XLE V6 Camry, and my 2010 Chevrolet LTZ four cylinder Malibu is not accurate! Good Morning: Here are the issues: 1.) My 2007 XLE V6 Toyota Camry easily gets 30mpg at 60mph, (on the highway), and in the process has outstanding performance. 2.) Now that is a good way to answer :) . In my case in 2007, it finally came down to the appearance of the car and price. I was deciding between Fusion, Milan, and Mazda6. To sum up your post (I think), GM = making great strides, Honyota = marking time at best. I agree completely. I don't personally feel that the Accord got any better with the current generation over the previous one. The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu hits a high-water mark for its size and price with taut proportions, elegant lines and a crisp, clean profile. To expect the Malibu to match the CamCord numbers on it's FIRST year of a redesign is simply ludicrous, and I'm sure GM has known this from the start. Chevy Malibu--- 13,650/ +86.4% The percentage changes are from comparable June 2007 sales. A "disaster" for GM? Hardly. It's not the total units sold that dictate a success, but, rather how it compares to what is replaced. I believe the present Camry & Accord are into a new generation as compared to the Malibu current generation which is 2004-2007. If your debut time for the Malibu is correct (2004), then the Accord is older than the Malibu, making it more than a fair fight for Chevy.
Since you did a comparison, I did some, too: -------------------- Honda 2003 LX V6 Coupe: Engine: 3.0L 240 hp V6 Horsepower: 240 @ 6250 RPM Torque (lb-ft): 212 @ 5000 RPM Economy: N/A -------------------- 2007 Chevrolet Malibu: LT2 or LTZ Engine: 3.5L 217 hp V6 Horsepower: 217 @ 5800 Torque (lb-ft): 217 @ 4000 Economy: 22 / 32 mpg -------------------- Do you think that the torque 217 @ 4000 RPM makes ... Malexbu: You seemed to argue that the post-2004 Malibu has had few or no issues. In my opinion, your argument is misleading. Since we're now in 2007, most of the post-2004 Malibu's have not passed the 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty yet. When there is an issue, the owner usually can get it fixed for free, and so the owner tends to be quiet about it. Besides, one's ego is also at play ... Read More
,--- elroy5 [ Mar 06, 2007 (7:16 pm) ] | | This statement is very familiar. It's the same thing they said about | the 97-02 Malibu. Here's the information that you're looking for, bmac. GMAC's base lease rate and residual value for a 39 month lease of a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu LT with 10,000 miles per year are 5.0% and 53%, respectively. Car_man Host Prices Paid Forum
Car man, Can you provide the residual and GMAC base lease rate on a 2007 Chevy Malibu LT, 10,000 mile, 39 month lease? The dealer is saying the residual is 54% and the base rate is 5.7%. Thanks!
sorry about your experience and its obvious you are here because you have an axe to grind with Chevy. No offense to your brother but I have a hard time believing ANYONE in 2007 thinks "all" cars have problems and we should get used to it. You fail to mention that some people (many people) have good experiences with their GM products. To say that GM owners are too uneducated to ... Read More
come available with a 5-speed manual transmission? That is the 'Bu for '08 that I would choose. The stick shifts generally cost around $1,000 less than the autmatic transmission model, which is good, but that's not why I would want a stick. Ever since I traded an automatic '97 Ford Escort sedan in on a '99 Kia Sephia with a stick I've enjoyed driving 5-speed sticks much more and would want ... Read More

Without getting into the specifics of Chevy's sales I suspect their sales are down due to a decrease in SUV sales and the fact that they have cut fleet sales across the board. The question is, will they be able to outsell Toyota this year? As far as I know the answer is yes. GM is not losing ground this year, it's share has been up or down slightly depending on ... You are totally clueless in regards to GM's products or the potential "extinction" of it's buyers. Chevy is the #1 selling brand (not Toyota) so it is silly to say they are running out of buyers. Maybe you could say that about Mitsubishi or VW, but not Chevy. You can twist that fact any way you please but there is no getting around Chevy being #1. OK, maybe extinction is too ... Read More
same old story... US drivers generally do not like hatchbacks from USA makers. Only exceptions are the wagonettes Dodge Caliber and Chevy HHR. Sporty, high-powered Euro hatches or very cheap import hatches do OK. As mentioned, Maxx goes bye-bye at end of 2007 model year. Chevy will soldier on with the EP2 chassis-ed Malibu Sedan. You can find spy pictures of that somewhere on Edmunds. The Saab Aero is similar to ... Read More

Hello fuelcellguy. Unfortunately, General Motors is no longer providing lease support on the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu. It may still be possible to take advantage of its current cash incentives and lease one through an independent bank, but if you really want to lease you are probably better off going with a 2007 model. GMAC's current base lease rate and residual values for a 27 month lease of a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu ... Read More
There isn't a lot of discounting on GM right now since they "repriced" their entire line to a lower level. The LS standard Malibu is a steal. There is about a $600 price differential between the '06 and the '07 - the '07 has stock side curtain airbags, very nice to have. Obviously you are more likely to get a dealer discount on a 2006 than on a 2007. Start by ... Read More

I went to Hybridcars.com under "compacts and sedans" the Malibu is listed to come out in 2007! When it does, I hope it can compete with Camry's hybrid (40 city/38 highway). I don't know why Honda bothered with the Accord hybrid! Doesn't even compare with the Camry. Please don't disappoint Chevy!
The fix for malibus with noisy or binding steering racks is supposed to be a redesigned steering rack. It has taken Chevy and/or supplier quite a while to get that done. The failing steering is probably due to the defective steering columm a number of '04 and '05 models got built with. There have been a few reported cases of the car steering itself, but usually it just dies and the ... Read More
