Chevrolet Malibu Clunks and Noises

Re: Clunks [javon7065]

We can't win with our 2004 Chevy Malibu LT. Its one of the worst cars ever built. We just got notified by our mechanic that BOTH hub bearing assemblies need to be changed. The car was making so much front end noise, it was unbearable and undriveable. ridiculous. Of course we get the nice clunking noise when the car turns. its like the steering colum or steering is just ... Read More...

Chevrolet Malibu Climate Control/AC Issues

2004 Malibu

Hi, I have the same problem with my 2004 Malibu. I had it replaced in 2006 under warr. After about 2 yrs, the AC light started blinking and it would go from recirrculating to fresh air. Last year on 7/24/08, I had it changed again and I paid for it! $480 bucks! Now, only a year later, it is doing it again and of course it is out of the Warr periode. If this is a big problem, ... Chevrolet Malibu Start Up/Ignition

Re: starting and over heating [gonogo]

Chevy made the Classic in 2004 and 2005 as a fleet car. The new body style was also made starting in 2004. There was also a Malibu classic in the 70's as well as a Silverado classic in the 90's. It is used often to use up the old body style parts even though a newer body style has been introduced. Read More...

Chevrolet Malibu Climate Control/AC Issues

Re: 2004 Malibu Classic [meethos]

Oh my gosh! I have this same exact problem. I talked with someone at a chevy dealer today and they said it was something in the "computer" behind the buttons. They said the part I'd need would cost around $300.00. Clearly, I do not want to pay that. I'd like to take the thing off like suggested in previous posts but I cannot figure out how to do that. The buttons themselves ... Read More...

Re: Paying extra for what? [deltheking]

As I said in my post above #12072,,, all modern cars are ok till 60-70k miles.Nowadays folks drive to more than. 120k miles easily. And it is the long term reliability which is important. 42k miles on a modern car is absolutely nothing.Wait till 85k atleast for long term reliability. This is good. A guy saves $3000-5000 up front, and the mistake he is unknowingly ... Read More...

Chevrolet Malibu Lease Questions

Re: Thank You Car Man - My Lease Price [g6leaser]

I guess I didn't pull that $370 a month range I quoted with no money down number out of my hat. Don't get me wrong as I said I have been leasing nothing but Chevys since 1990, and the car 2004 LS Malibu V6 great engine by the way real smooth good power and pretty quiet, I turned it in for the Accord EXP with a $1,000 down @$260.00 36 mth, 12,000 miles a year one of the main reasons ... Chevrolet Malibu MPG-Real World Numbers

Re: Chevrolet Malibu Owners: MPG-Real World Numbers [jaj1701]

Wow. Lots of questions. I was once pretty active on the, er, some other car enthusiasts forums, one of which is all about GM. I believe the Electric Power Steering went away for all V6 cars for the 2007 model year. That was the year that Chevrolet moved from the LX9 3.5l V6 (no VVT) to the LZ4 3.5l VVT V6 for the 2007 model year. The EPS had some issues for the first two years, ... Read More...

Re: Chevrolet Malibu Owners: MPG-Real World Numbers [malexbu]

It sounds like it was measured by hand, during fillups. The "~" would mean "around" (as in, "not near my log, so can't post exact numbers"). Either way though, those numbers sound pretty spot on. The 2004 V6 LT sedan we had was the same way, with a best ever just over 38 mpg all highway, and routinely 32-35 ~90% highway mix of weekly work driving, and a worst city return ... Read More...

Re: 2004 Classic key replacement? [04cad]

Hi- I had the same problem with the keys for Wally's world on my 2003 Malibu classic. They cut a total of 5 of them (got my money back on them of course) but they wouldn't really work. One of them worked sometimes if I really jiggled it. I went to the local hardware store that had a different type of cutting machine and for $3.38 I got 2 keys that work just fine for the car. ... Chevrolet Malibu Audio/IPod/XM Sirius

Factory Audio for a 2003 Chevy Malibu

I have a question, Is it possible to update my factory radio head unit with a 2004 or 2005 radio model? Anyone know, I like to upgrade my head unit, but still keep it factory, I'm starting to see more and more units come with a AUX plugs for like MP3 players and such. Would a newer Malibu head unit plug into my 2003 Mali? Thanks in advance. Read More...
