Chevy Malibu vs Camry and Accord
Written by: bh628 on Oct 8, 2004 5:05:59 PM
Hi, I was researching the Chevy Malibu in Consumer Reports, and decided to compare the braking and accleration against the Accord and Camry. I was very happily surprised! I have the results from the 2004 Malibu base model, the 2003 Accord Ex, and the 2002 Camry LE. All 4-cylinder; but it looks like the Malibu is 2.2L and the others are 2.4. Acceleration was only seconds slower by the Malibu. But, ... Read More

Cut your losses. Any time you have to spend hundreds or thousands to fix a car that is only worth a couple of thousand, that is throwing good money after bad. I remember learning that lesson when I was younger, and it is a painfull lesson. The early Malibu's seem to have had some problems which were slowly corrected as the model aged. I hope Chevy doesn't take 3 or 4 ... Read More

Malibu owner (new)
Written by: envoylee on Jun 7, 2004 2:32:18 PM
Just thought I would add some info. about the Malibu from a new owner (actually my wife). She was not crazy about the looks at first, but now loves it. Silver LS with most options (she didn't want leather, so no LT). I can say that it drives great, good mpg, peppy, lots of trunk space, and good value. She plans to keep it for a long time. We looked at ... Read More

2004 Malibu Classic
Written by: dispencer1 on Mar 20, 2004 4:01:30 PM
By the way, you all might make a note of the fact that the 2004 Malibu Classic or "Chevrolet Classic" that is being sold to fleets and rental car companies is pretty much a base 2003 Malibu with power windows, door locks, CD radio, cruise, auto, AC ,base cloth interior and a 140hp 4 cyl engine. So much for picking up a bargain Malibu LS at the end of the year. ... Read More

Chevrolet Malibu FLASHBACK!
Written by: orbit9090 on Feb 6, 2004 5:52:44 AM
I recently had to drive my employers 2003 Chevrolet Malibu LS sedan. The Malibu had only four-thousand miles on it, but driving it gave me flashbacks of an American sedan I owned years ago, a 1992 Plymouth Acclaim; plasticy & flimsy feeling interior, bouncy & jiggly ride, vague but constant "grinding" sensation in the drive-train, noisy & under-performing engine, and inconveniently placed controls (for example, the Malibu’s HVAC controls become blocked ... 2003 Malibu LS Horn Problem
Written by: fathertyricius on Dec 21, 2003 2:40:06 PM
My father bought a 2003 Malibu LS a few months ago. The car runs great, and he is very happy with it, but for one problem. Last month out of the blue, the horn started to continously honk. The car was parked when out of no where the horn just started to honk. He started up the car, and the horn stopped. When he tried to honk the horn, the horn ... Read More

Malibu resale value
Written by: charts2 on Nov 9, 2003 7:05:32 PM
....My understanding was that GM was going to continue making the 2003 Malibu as the "Chevrolet Classic" to be used for car rental fleet purposes in order to firm up the resale value of the current 04 Malibu as a used vehicle down the road similar to the Accord and Camry.....as we all know Camrys and Accords have fantastic resale after a few years.. Saturday I was at a Car rental ... Read More

Test Drive of 2004 Malibu LS
Written by: micweb on Oct 17, 2003 10:46:36 AM
While having my VW serviced down the street, I saw a 2004 Malibu at the nearby Chevy dealer and after looking it over thought it was worth taking out for a spin. I have long been considering an Impala - a "minivan" sedan (so much space and a cavernous trunk") but its hard for me to justify a typical $26k price tag for the more desirable LS version. The Malibu, on ... Read More

So Saturn resale values have fallen in 5 years. All GM vehicles have had a fall in resale value. All things being equal, Saturn resale values have remained higher than those of Chevy. Let me just say this again, I don't hate the Malibu. I actually like the 2003 and earlier model. I think the old interior looks MUCH better than the new and I found the old styling to be ... I know problems are going to arise on every car, but one with 63K miles, in my opinion, should not have cracked CV boots. And about a 2003 having alternator and manifold problems - It will happen. Chevrolet is using the same alternators and manifold design that it used in 1997, on the 2003 Malibus. (Holy cow, I'm starting to sound like regfootball; I guess I'm starting to see his point ... Yes the Malibu does carry a good price tag but not sure it is such a great value. Of course value means different things to different people. Remember it's a reason why you were able to buy a Malibu LS for around $16k and not the $20k it was listed. The reason most people are disappointed with the Malibu is everybody remembers the ad campaign and the slogan "the car you ... Read More

Seat Comfort - Considering Malibu
Written by: mrgeneseo on Jul 18, 2003 11:22:43 AM
I am desperately seeking input from Chevrolet Malibu owners about the comfort of the front seats. My wife and I tested a 2003 LS and liked the car, but we both commented that the front seats made our legs feel tired or asleep. Has anyone else experienced this? We are used to driving a minivan, with fairly flat seats, as opposed to an incline. If you have experienced this, does it ... Read More

Whats everyone think of this deal on a Malibu
Written by: toonzee on Jan 31, 2003 7:21:58 AM
Malibu LS, with Preferred Equipment Package. List 22060.00. 3000 chevy rebate, 750 Phila area auto show rebate. Dealer takes 1870 off sticker. This brings me down to 16440. $5620 total off sticker. Than for some unknow reason GM sends me an email saying they are giving me a total of 2060 in rebate money to be used by Jan 31, 2003. (don't know why or how I got that incentive, I ... Read More

Some interesting stuff
Written by: bcmalibu99ls on Nov 7, 2002 8:24:29 AM
Got it from the Consumer Guide site: Antilock brakes are optional instead of standard for 2003 on the base version of Malibu. ABS remains standard on LS, but is now a $400 base-model option. An all-new Malibu arrives for 2004 on the same front-drive Epsilon platform as the latest 9-3 from GM-owned Saab. Don't worry about price, though: Malibu will remain an affordable, mainstream midsize slotting just under Impala. The '04 ... Read More

Nope. The upcoming 2003 Saturn ION (Based on the all new GM Delta small car platform) should give you an idea of how the Chevy Cavalier replacement might look like. I believe the ION is to be released within the next few months. I believe the Cavalier replacement is still delayed. Right now GM/Chevy are putting a great emphasis in the Malibu's replacement for 2004. The Opel Vectra/Signium (Built on the ... Read More

Y2K Chevy Impala LS
Written by: teo on Jan 9, 2001 8:56:45 AM
Is the same exact car as the '00/'01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. Both share the same W-body platform, have the same exact transmission and have the same exact 3800 Series II V-6 engine that puts 200 ponies at the front wheels. Actually, the Impala is a bit strobger than the Grand Prix since it already meets 2003 Government safety standards while the Grand Prix only meets 1997 Government standards. Sorry to ... Read More
