    Actually this car was originally my mom's. She wanted a new car, and I had a 1994 Dodge Shadow that was a piece of crap, so I signed over the Shadow to her, and she traded it in for a new Ford Taurus and I made the payments on the Malibu (1998). It finally officially became mine last December. Still runs great.

    As crazy as it sounds, thats what 1998-2001 malibu owners have reported. Usually its while stuck in traffic, going at a slow speed that the car's anti theft system kicks on, completely shutting it down.     I have a 1998 Malibu with an interesting problem. It appears a piece of each hubcap has melted from brake heat so that they are impossible to remove without destroying them.
