I have a 2007 Chevy Malibu Maxx LT, which I have had just shy of 7 months. I noticed this afternoon that the indicator light on the instrument panel showing which gear you are in isn't lighting up. It will light up upon initial cranking of the key, but then go out. This is a new situation, as of this afternoon. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions on the cause? What's the solution to fixing ... I did a little online research and did find that the engine does have variable valve timing via variable cam shaft timing "In addition to redesigning its front-wheel-drive Malibu midsize sedan for 2004, Chevrolet launched an extended-length version called the Malibu Maxx. Billed by the automaker as an "extended sedan" with a rear liftgate, the Malibu Maxx holds a 3.5-liter V-6. That engine receives variable valve timing for 2007, netting an ... Read More

Horsepower was increased from 200 to 217. The (optimistic and replaced) EPA ratings continued at 30-22. http://www.automobilemag.com/am/99/2007/chevrolet/malibu/maxx_ltz_hatchback/2147- /index.html

I haven't exactly been active in this forum, but I bought my car around the same time as pao, and in the same area. We've had very different experiences--his a lot better than mine, and he's driven the heck out of it! Alas, our Maxx is no longer. While, the car is still around, perhaps at a CarMax near you any day now, but we no longer own it. It was ... Read More
A Chevy dealer in Lanham, MD has __7__ 2006 Malibu Maxx LTs and 2 2006 Malibu Maxx SSs, plus 1 2007 LT. The '06 LTs have listed invoices btw $20,600 and $23,358. I offered the internet guy $16,999 for one of the $23,358 LTs, and he got back to me saying that they'd sell it to me for $16,998.40 (after incentives I later found out) if I take delivery today. I,ve been reading a lot of reviews on the Maxx. At Forbes.com, I read a review: '2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx ss Test Drives' on 12/09/2005 by Steve Kichen. Under the category 'Should You Buy This Car' he states the, "...discontinue of the Maxx in a few years..", once a more stylish replacement is made for Malibu. Went to New York International Car Show. I sat in the Malibu Maxx. I love the rear adjustable seats. Also love the hatchback door with fold down seats. I have read in a lot of reviews about the electric powered steering isn't so good. Anyone have problems or cmplaints? What males the cloth "custom cloth"? I have a question about an option. Edmunds.com doesn't list it for the Malibu Maxx LT, ... Read More

Yeah, i wonder if the "Ultra Lux" is another word for "Ultra Suede". We have a couch in ultrasuede and it's pretty easy to clean. Liquids stay on the surface and don't get absorbed too badly. Also, our cats can't really tear it, although they do occasionally put nicks in it with claws when we're not around. I was checking the Malibu site and saw that the LTZ now has 17" ... Read More
