I just got the car about 1 week ago. It drives very smooth and its very quiet. Its way better then a chevy prism. My car has 91,304 miles on it. Im glad I bought it. I dont see a problem with the car at all.
I purchased my 2006 Chevy Malibu MAXX SS 1 year ago. The ride, fit, finish, power, comfort and excitement are among the BEST of any of the over 100+ cars I have owned.Including 64,64,67 and 68 Impala's SS's. The car hauls A_ _ and all of my 5 grandchildren and all their stuff. We travel alot and we have out over 50,000 miles on the car SO FAR. It handles the local dragstrip as well ... Read More

I would say my trans problem was less of a out and out fluctuation, and more like the trans was slipping into neutral when I let off the gas, and then the engine would rev as I tried to re-accelerate. It would then eventually drop back into gear, which was very noticeable. Does your +,- toggle work on your shifter? Or is it malfunctioning like mine was? That seems to be ... Read More

I had the dealer do the trans service at 50k. My first thought when this problem cropped up was that the dealer didn't put enough tranny fluid back in. I'll never know. I complained to my service advisor and mentioned another call to Chevy (that's what it took to get my steering fixed) and he said I should get the shifter fixed first, which currently will not cycle through the gears ... Hi, I just bought a 2006 Malibu Maxx fully loaded with options and 30,840 miles for $13,900 (under the Edmunds TMV for my area). We've been driving it for 2 weeks and had no problems. Took a roadtrip (about 300 miles total) last weekend and loved it. I think that Maxxs are a good buy even if resale value later is not great (no American cars have great resale values), but ... A Chevy dealer in Lanham, MD has __7__ 2006 Malibu Maxx LTs and 2 2006 Malibu Maxx SSs, plus 1 2007 LT. The '06 LTs have listed invoices btw $20,600 and $23,358. I offered the internet guy $16,999 for one of the $23,358 LTs, and he got back to me saying that they'd sell it to me for $16,998.40 (after incentives I later found out) if I take delivery today. In 05 I got six grand off an 05 Maxx. Of course the 06's weren't marked up that much. 1. I think GM just put some more discounts and dealer money in to clear out 06's. 2. I know the LA auto show is already over. Any other auto show discounts on horizon? 3. If they're selling a Maxx for under $15 you should be able to do better with a ... Read More
Thank you for the update, gdubya2! I've been wondering about your results for that upcoming trip '"up north" in Manistee' (see post #100). Hey E2, I know this is a Malibu forum and I have a 2006 Maxx LTZ, but I was wondering if you could get any info on other GM cars. I'm looking to buy a used 2006 Cobalt LS 2dr 5SP manual from my local Chevy dealer for my Son. Could you tell me the build date and if it was built with any options in it. VIN 1G1AK15FX67747860. Thanks.
I'm starting to look at the Maxx SS, It's been a long time since I bought a Chevy. Can anyone tell me what a good price would be for a 2006 Maxx SS now. I'm looking at the base SS no options, Edmunds shows the invoice price to be 22,758 w/dest. Can I expect to get it for much less than invoice. Thanks

I,ve been reading a lot of reviews on the Maxx. At Forbes.com, I read a review: '2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx ss Test Drives' on 12/09/2005 by Steve Kichen. Under the category 'Should You Buy This Car' he states the, "...discontinue of the Maxx in a few years..", once a more stylish replacement is made for Malibu. Also at Autoweb.com, in '2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx SS Driving Impressions', Christian Wardlaw author says ... Read More
Hello jpatrick1. GMAC, General Motors' captive finance company, does not use money factors to calculate vehicles' lease payments. It publishes lease rates instead. You can convert its published lease rates into approximate money factor equivalents by dividing them by 2400. If you were to lease a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx LT through GMAC right now for 36 months with 12,000 miles per year, its base lease rate and residual value should ... Read More

I too am seeing a lot more Maxxes on the road here in Michigan. There was a very nice article in the New York Times March 19, 2006 entitled "2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx: The Sedan That Says 'Stuff It' Although the article was very favorable overall, the author noted that a good percentage of the ones he has seen up close had the telltale sign of being rental cars.
Hi, I was at my chevy dealer yesterday and the 2006 Malibu Maxx LT on the display floor caught my eye. I am trading in my 2003 Blazer and looking for something that will save on gas and also afford me the space we need to transport things my wife uses in her scrapbooking business(tons). I liked the size of the Maxx and the body style is sharp. Although I got ... Read More

Hey gerardm. Here is the information that you are looking for. If you were to lease a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ through GMAC right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its base lease rate and residual value should be 4.0% and 53%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical lease of a Malibu Maxx would be exactly the same. I don't believe that GM is currently providing any ... Read More
Based on my short test drive of the Maxx SS, I'm sorry I can't really give you a definitive answer there. On epinions there's a Maxx SS review by one of their "professional" reviewers. Yeah, i wonder if the "Ultra Lux" is another word for "Ultra Suede". We have a couch in ultrasuede and it's pretty easy to clean. Liquids stay on the surface and don't get absorbed too badly. Also, our cats can't really tear it, although they do occasionally put nicks in it with claws when we're not around. I was checking the Malibu site and saw that the LTZ now has 17" ... Read More

My 2 cents... We bought a 2004 Malibu Maxx and so far we love it. It has a very smooth, quiet ride and good power while getting respectable gas mileage. Having owned mostly foreign cars since my original car (an 89 Beretta, which I loved but it fell apart), I seriously doubted I would ever own another Chevy. The Maxx changed my mind and is something you should definitely test drive. ... Read More
