Anyone with the signal light problems for the 2005 Chevy Malibu Maxx Please contact Transport Canada @ 1-800-333-0510 Its very simple, you speak to a safty rep, and they take the details down. There should definatly be a recall on this problem!
Last fall, I made an observation here that my new Maxx rode noticeably stiffer than the Base Sedans. That impression has only got increased since then -- yeah, the Sedans (2005) feel pleasanter to ride in, practically on any road. Part of the difference perception was a "perception" -- I was getting a bit worried if the suspension in my Maxx was in a good order. Finally, I went to Sears ... Read More

In the past I have used a mini stereo jack to RCA cable in my DVD player in the back. Or a FM transceiver. Can't really just replace the stereo's in these cars.

(A) You could read all these postings and then try calling the 1-800-CHEVROLET number and try to negotiate for some extended warranty coverage of the steering troubles. (B) Mine has the start trouble, too; as far as I know, the occasional starting motor "running on" does no harm, so I just think of it as an occasional annoyance. (C) If the only steering/suspension problem you end up with is some "loose" ... Read More

doubt you will have anything covered under warranty...the problems you mentioned are common to the 04-07 MY Malibus.....the electronic steering was an issue...man examples of replaced columns..the popping sound was probably corrected with proper lubrication........the starting issue is common too....mine does the same thing....no fix....I use my remote start most fo the time to avoid that issue.....yours may or may not be equipped with remote start as it was an option ... Hi, I just bought a 2006 Malibu Maxx fully loaded with options and 30,840 miles for $13,900 (under the Edmunds TMV for my area). We've been driving it for 2 weeks and had no problems. Took a roadtrip (about 300 miles total) last weekend and loved it. I think that Maxxs are a good buy even if resale value later is not great (no American cars have great resale values), but ... I purchased a low mileage Malibu Maxx in March of this year from Carmax. The steering gear has been replaced 4 times to date due to a "clunking" sound and feel in the steering when turning in to and out of left and right turns. Sloppy manufacturing tolerances, period. Is it fair to have the feeling that buying a reliable Chevrolet is like rolling dice in Vegas - you got no idea what you're gonna get? CU's ratings of Chevrolet reliability are by far the most variable of any car brand, going from good to downright rotten. The Maxx is smack in the middle, according to them.

If that's true, it's the sloppiest engine tolerance I have heard about in years. FYI, the '04 Maxx I am running seems to burn very little oil. - have never had to refill between 3000 mile changes (oil level changed little if at all).
Hey meuseman. If you were to lease either a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Sedan or a Chevrolet Malibu Maxx through GMAC right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, its base lease rate and residual value should be 4.0% and 53%, respectively. The lease rate for an otherwise identical lease with 12,000 miles per year would be the same, but the residual value would be 3% higher. As you can ... Read More

My 2 cents... We bought a 2004 Malibu Maxx and so far we love it. It has a very smooth, quiet ride and good power while getting respectable gas mileage. A followup for LA, CA folks... My dealer experience was helped by going through the dealer's internet group, which migated most of the horsetrading bazzar nonsense. Still, finance managed to slip in a few extra last minute charges. The pathetic part was when the dealer begged me to classify my experience as "completely satisfied". They didn't get it.
