If you check ebay regularly, there are often times dvd consoles and stuff for the maxx that go pretty cheaply. I missed out on a whole console that went for $50. Theres a replacement screen and dvd player for $112 right now buy it now. My 2004 chevy malibu maxx LT V6 used to start by the remote. I tried it recently and the lights flash twice, but the engine doesn't turn over.. Does anyone know why this is happening?? I had a similar problem with one of my struts and ended up replacing both of them. tire rack has them for 67 each for the front and 48 each for the rear..assuming you have the 16 inch wheel option..... I have spoke with Chevy and the dealer for several months on this, and the assured me that it will be covered under warranty. I am out of warranty now. They said since I had a case started on this before warranty ended, that it won't be a problem. I am nervous though :-)

I have a 2004 Maxx LS and have not had the thumping problem. I'm no expert, but problem may be caused by the steering gear pre-load adjustment. While the power assist is electric and built into the steering wheel, the steering gear is a standard manual rack and pinion system. I did buy a Lemon and GM bought it back just recently. I had the same problems with the stereo, they replaced it 4 times then in April they put an 05 stereo in it and that fixed that finally, there is a software problem apparently in the 04. The left pull is a separate issue from the column recall. I think some early Maxxs had power steering failures, hence the recall. Research? As juice mentioned not much has been released. What I do know is that starting in 2004 the Malibu will go on the same front-drive Epsilon platform as the latest Saab (9-3). Thats smaller than the new Camry unless the modify it considerably.
