Hey I had the same issue on my 03 Chevy impala, it was a bad Solenoid. These things are common in this car. ZEvery shop told me I needed a new transmission, which was bull.. I got all of my solenoids replaced and my car has been fine since. That was in November of 08 I got it fixed.

After over a year in & out of dealer trying to get my 2007 Impala transmission fixed I am finally posting problem to the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin. (NHTSA) as a safety issue -- Case #10270004. Safety issue because this random jerking of the transmission upon taking off in traffic, at light, or from stand still has caused: (a) my wheels to spin, (b) the car to pull into the ... Read More

There is a TSB that deals with the flickering headlights and interior lights for the 06 and 07. I'm not sure what the solution is but you can see it at http://www.chevroletforum.com/recalls-and-tsbs/make_CHEVROLET/model_IMPALA/year_- 2007/id_070842008/TSB.htm

Three problems to report

I have a 2007 Impala LS with the 3.5L V-6. Overall it has been a good car but still has its niggling problems. I bought it in April 07 as a fleet vehicle. It had 18000 miles on it with no Onstar and no folding rear bench... in other words no extras. I do have decent gas mileage though if I am on the highway. Straight city in winter 15 mpg, ... I have a 2007 Impala with the 3.9 candy apple red. I have had it back 3 times for the hesitation in the acceleration. Twice they put a new map sensor in it, that did not help. You make it sound as though Stabilitrak was added to address an alleged handling problem with the Impala. It is not just the SS models, or only the Impala, that received standard Stabilitrak for 2008. GM has added it as standard equipment on many of the 2008 models. If the handling of the car was truly that dangerous in the snow, Chevrolet would either be voluntarily recalling all Impalas to address ... Read More

I have a 2006 Impala 2LT with the 3.5L V6...no ABS...no traction control. My car is perfectly stable in the snow. I still have the OEM Goodyear Integrity all-season tires on it and even with over 21,000 miles on them the car had no issues in our last snowstorm (2"-3" on untreated roads). My car is actually better handling in snow than it is in a rainstorm. The Federal Government has ... Read More

By the same token, a local Chevy dealer here (Arkansas) has an ad in the newspaper today selling a 2007 Impala that lists for $21,710 for $16,124 (or $15,624 if you're active military). Deal includes $1,500 factory rebate, $1,000 "bonus cash" and $3,086 dealer discount. Even though that'd be a base model, I think I'd rather spring for the new 2007 model (w/better warranty and better chance of having 1st year ... Read More

According to GM, Chevrolet sold 289,868 Impalas for 2006. There is another site that says 290,432. A few months back I was on a GM website and Ed Peper Chevrolets general manager said 2006 Impala SS sales were 18% of the total impala sales for the calendar year 2006. Higher then expected. 2005 Impala SS sold about 10% of total Impala sales. Autotrader has several used LOADED 2006 Impala SS cars ... Read More

The 5 year warranty on the 2007 chevrolets is a powertrain warranty only. The basic coverage warranty is still 3 years/36,000 miles on all other components. When GM put this new 5 year powertrain warranty into affect several months ago they also increased the retail prices of their vehicles. You get what you pay for.

I've got a dealer sticker from Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet in Newton, N.C. I had one on my truck to cover up a minor dent and scratch on the tailgate. Since his passing, these stickers have become somewhat rare and hard to find. If you can find one the price is very expensive. Not sure if I want to put it on my Impala or hold on to it for posterity.

The problem with the Impala is the huge 1st year depreciation from list. A $30000 SS probably wholesales for 18000 if you're lucky after year 1. Just a plain jane impala wholesales 10k off list 1st year. This is due to the huge supply every year on the market from terminating leases, rental and fleet cars etc. $7000 off MSRP would by no means be giving the SS away, although I ... Read More
