Same here...had an issue with my TPMS and it was fixed under warranty. A related issue to this is the FOB may have limited range or not work at all. This can also be fixed under warranty. Rather than panic, just ask your service department to fix it. They will likely give you a rental car to use while they repair the problem if you ask. Chevy has come a long ... Read More

I'd get the V-8. I have one (2006) and love it! Superb power, delectable exhaust sound, handles great, relatively good gas mileage for a V-8 (the DOD helps), very quiet cabin at highway speeds, excellent BOSE sound system and topnotch fit and finish, at least in my car. I am very impressed with the quality of recent GM cars including the 2006 Chevrolet Impala SS.
Clicking sound at idle
Written by: stuhrw on Dec 16, 2007 7:43:06 PM
I have a 2006 Impala; it makes a clicking or ticking sound while idling. As soon as I accelerate, it's gone. It definitely a mechanical tick, as it is continuous and steady, almost like a fuel injector knock or something. I'm really not worried about it, as the vehicle is a lease; just want to make sure it won't leave me stranded on the highway until I turn it in. I'm ... Read More

Don't really know if RWD is a consideration of something they have going for themselves. I mean...the foreign entries have always been FWD and it's never been an issue. IMO, for the American V-6's to be so lacking...RWD really amounts to a hill of beans. The Hemi...obviously, if I'm jumping out there to get one of those...FE be damned! I'm getting it strictly for it's performance attributes. Yeah...there are a couple ... Read More
I agree with this to a point but you also must remember that if GM refreshens a car to quickly it won't last long enough and they won't see profits come from it as they could. Every five to six years is good for one style seven at the max with minor refreshening in between. Look at the chevy lumina 1995-2001 chevy impala 2000-2005 and now 2006-2009 or 10 for the ... I got my car from Power Chevrolet (what a mistake) everything they fixed they caused a new issue painted ... Read More
jnt It is ironic that you state that the 2002 Impala radio can be changed without a problem and the 2006 radio needs the VIN to match among other things that would prohibit someone from doing this. I have a 2002 Impala and that radio is outstanding, I would not even think of changing it. My 2006 Impala radio in my 3LT or LT3 however you want to say it, sucks. ... Read More
By the same token, a local Chevy dealer here (Arkansas) has an ad in the newspaper today selling a 2007 Impala that lists for $21,710 for $16,124 (or $15,624 if you're active military). Deal includes $1,500 factory rebate, $1,000 "bonus cash" and $3,086 dealer discount. Even though that'd be a base model, I think I'd rather spring for the new 2007 model (w/better warranty and better chance of having 1st year ... Read More

The 2006 Impala was a big improvement over the previous 00-05 models. Chevrolet has come a long way in reliability in the past few years, and service department personnel dealing with customer complaints are improving. but the competition isn't sitting still either. Improvements have to be made on a continual basis. The 5 year powertrain warranty now in effect is an improvement, but the basic car warranty is still 3 years ... Read More

Wanda, I don't think anyone is knockin' you for sharing your troubles. The point was being made that some folks come on here and like to bash Chevys for being Chevys. The politically-correct belief these days is that Toyotas and anything else branded in Asia is superior regardless of how well the product actually performs. I like that the poster above shared his Lexus IS350 story with us. No brand is ... Read More
I recently bought a red/maroon 2006 Impala LTZ. I bought it used from a chevy dealership. I didn't notice any chips when I bought the car, but a few days later I noticed many (approx 40-50) small chips on the front plastic bumper and hood. I wondered how they covered that up where I couln't tell? Anyways, I just want to say there is someone else out here who has that ... Read More
My car is a 2006 Impala SS which I have had now for 11 months. In that space of time I have had exactly zero problems with the car. There was a power steering hose assembly recall that was covered under warranty without incident. I hope you are wrong. This isn't GMs fault. Lutz said today doing the math not meeting the future CAFE/EMISSION standards large cars can be levied up to a $5,000 surtax each. Don't be surprised if the Camaro isn't axed ... Read More

I have seen tests from 62 with a 62 SS 409 with 4.56 gears running 14.02. Thats with skinny 14" wheels and nylon tires. Restrictive mufflers back then were terrible. A few tweaks could make these cars run in the 12s. 409s though was not a reliable engines. Most guys blew them up within a year. According to GM, Chevrolet sold 289,868 Impalas for 2006. There is another site that says 290,432. A few months back I was on a GM website and Ed Peper Chevrolets general manager said 2006 Impala SS sales were 18% of the total impala sales for the calendar year 2006. Higher then expected. 2005 Impala SS sold about 10% of total Impala sales. Autotrader has several used LOADED 2006 Impala SS cars ... Read More
