2004 Chevrolet Impala LS 4dr Sedan (3.8L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I've put 2K miles on my LS, and don't know of anything to complain about, and that is unusual for me. I looked at several other cars seriously - a Camry, Lexus ES 330, Buick La Sabre, and also briefly considered the Equinox. The Camry is a like driving a wagon compared to the Impala. The Buick is a good car, but it looks like you have to live in a retirement village to own it. The Lexus was seriously considered, but it would have been over 10K more, and I don't think it is worth it. The Impala definitely has a more comfortablbe seat, and 200 hp is plenty unless you are drag racing. The Edmonds review almost kept me from considering the Impala - don't listen.

Favorite Features

The Impala drives so well; it is tight and responds better than anything I've owned before. I like the power, heated, leather seats, and all the room.

Suggested Improvements

No complaints. The only question is long term reliability, and only time will tell.

Excellent car! We traded a 2001 Saturn L200 for the Impala and it makes the Saturn seem like it was a piece of junk. The car works well, gets great highway mileage and is so comfortable. Test drove an Accord, Outback, Mazda 6, Saturn Ion, Grand Prix, Vibe, Vue and a Rendezvous and the Impala was not only the best riding car we got a fantastic deal on it. Had the car on a decent sized road trip and got 30mpg+.

The engine!

Love the Chevy Impala ls ,other than the boring front grill.Handling is surprising for big sedan.Looks good and reliable.May be a little room for improvement but otherwise am delighted

Favorite Features

block out body color on rear and classic impala look

Suggested Improvements

Indy grill should be standard equipment on LS ans SS models and fold in rear view mirrors should be adressed.

interior so quiet when under way. 3.4L engine so smooth at idle sounds like its off, and gas milage is terrific. so many standard features its amazing.and i only have the base model!ride is smooth,i have to say that build quality is excellent. no squeaks everything fits nice and tight. paint job is excellent.you can hardly feel the trans. shift.for a little over 16000 dollars i got a lot of car for the money. g.m. is building great cars. and its roomy with a big big trunk.

Favorite Features

big trunk that you can actually fit something in. excellent sounding sound system.it handles tight.

Suggested Improvements

maybe a little more choice of interior colors and exterior color choices. i dont see much improvement needed

2004 Chevrolet Impala SS Supercharged 4dr Sedan (3.8L 6cyl S/C 4A)

Review

So for the first time in my life, I actually went out looking for a car, a brand new car. I wanted decent space, comfortable yet competent handling, etc. and I ultimately ended spend 2 months going through all of the local delearships in my area test driving every car in the "Large Sedan" Class. Ultimately it came down to a 2004 Accord V-6, or the 2004 Impala SS. The accord takes forever to downshift (when I press the gas down, I expect the machine to down shift) and the Transmission of the accord was a little less smooth in comparison to the ultra silky performance of the Impala's transmission. In a word overall this vehicle is amazing.

Favorite Features

Quick shifting transmission (Best performance in automatics) Transmission so smooth fear changes are only perceptible only extreme acceleration, even then if you are paying attention, you will not notice. Leather Quality is superb period Ride comfort racing around or daily driving

Suggested Improvements

Like everyone else, I am annoyed with the lack of a light for the glove box. GM is going to Meddle with this amazing car at the end of 2005 model year

2004 Chevrolet Impala SS Supercharged 4dr Sedan (3.8L 6cyl S/C 4A)

Review

I purchased an SS model Impala (when I was actually only looking to buy an LS) when i realized the dealership I was at had over $7000 in rebates. I had never test driven the SS, so when I took it for a spin, I loved the performance and the handling. It is lightning quick, and quite agile for a large sedan.

Favorite Features

You have to love the the 240 horsepower supercharged engine. It gets up and moves like nobodys business. The 200 watt stero is exceptional, and probably gets louder than most people can tolerate. the XM satellite is a nice feature as well.

Suggested Improvements

More interior lamps. A cover for the Space below the Dash would be nice. The Interior could have a more refined luxury sedan look as opposed to being so Truck like, and I wish the information computer was standard. Especially on the LS and SS models.
