No, it happens continuously. The turn indicators and etc. work fine, but the dash gauges all seem to have a heartbeat (Heartbeat of America? :{ ) Anyway, I am trying to diagnose a complicated situation with little or no knowledge. Thanks for your suggestions and any other help you can offer.

The last time the battery went out in my 2000 Impala I noticed strange electrical stuff going on; mainly associated with the radio...things like pushing a steering wheel button to change the station, and it would go into seek mode but never lock in on a station and such. I couldn't figure it out and thought the radio was going bad, and then within a week or so the battery went ... Read More

Shelley, does your speedometer "Bounce" only when a light is blinking? Like the blinkers, hazards, etc... or does it do that all the time. I am by no means a car expert but I really don't think it would be the BCM. Most gauges in cars are controlled by a vacuum of air (not sure about that in Imapala's though) same with the Air Conditioning controls. If I were to take ... Read More

Chevy Impala 2002

I have a 2002 Impala that about a year ago started exhibiting strange electrical behavior. It starts fine and runs fine but all the electrical gauges including the speedometer "bounce". They all seem to bounce in time to a blinking light like the seatbelt light. The only way we can tell how fast we're going or how much gas we have is to see approximately the highest point of the bounce. ... Read More

2001 chevy impala periodically won't start

We purchased the above car in 2002. Recently, car would be fine then all of a sudden it wouldn't start up at all. Replaced the starter and wasn't the problem. Put new starter relay. Again, not the problem. Still occasionally does not start. Had car towed after experiencing another night of not starting (after being ok for about 3 weeks). Technician started it right up, 12 times in a row. They ... Read More

Hi, I have a 2000 Chevy Impala, and have the exact same problem with water on the right floor when it rains. I went through the same procedure as you also. I had a windshield replaced by a glass dealer, and at some point after that, the leaks started. I took the car back to the glass dealer and he told me it was common for leaves and debris to plug ... Find another chevy dealer and get their opinion, even if it is several miles away. Don't tell them that you have already been to another dealer. Remember its a mechanic that diagnosed your car and maybe he was one that didn't finish in the top half of his class. .....indicate that you are concerned about the safety of your braking system..be persistant! I've been on this board off and on since early 2000, and don't recall many mentions of water collecting on the floorboard - I've seen it mentioned on some other GM boards (like the Colorado/Canyon, for instance), but I wouldn't say it was a well-known problem on the Impala by any means.
