I agree with this to a point but you also must remember that if GM refreshens a car to quickly it won't last long enough and they won't see profits come from it as they could. Every five to six years is good for one style seven at the max with minor refreshening in between. Look at the chevy lumina 1995-2001 chevy impala 2000-2005 and now 2006-2009 or 10 for the ... Here is my input on this issue. I currently own a '06 Charger SRT8 and have owned TWO Impala SSes (1995 models). I have ZERO confidence in Chevrolet when it comes to quality control. Both Impala SSes had serious quality control issues from the factory (mismatched doors - driver's door= Impala SS/passenger door=Caprice. Door seams so far misaligned that the dealer claimed that they could not be straightened.) Overall quality of ... Read More

I called three different Chevy dealerships on this oil usage and what they tell me is a engine using a quart of oil at 3300 miles is considered a good working engine with this many miles on it according to Chevy specs. they told me that if i took it in for service to see what the problem is there isn't much they can do because 1,000 miles a quart is ... I have had my 2006 Impala SS since November 2005. I have 5,000 miles on it, at 3,000 I put synthetic oil in the car. I drive it like a vette since I drove it off the show room floor. I have no complaints about the car. I have owned 3 different years of Impalas 2000, 1995, 1969. I think this is the best Impala chevy has built yet. Do not ... Read More
It just cost me $400 to replace the passlock on my 2002 Chevrolet Impala. I am four months off the warrenty. And I just hope that this solves the problem. I owned a 1995 Lumina for years, putting over 150,000 miles on it. So, when it came time for a new car I choose the Impala replacement model for the Lumina. And for two years I was happy, no problem, until ... Read More
Selling more cars is important to GM. Prime example: For those that remember Chevy spent a ton of money advertising the 1994 Impala SS when it came out. Had the detuned Corvette engine 17" wheels, RWD. people rushed to the showrooms to see the car. It only came in BLACK and had the shifter on the steering column, sales were disappointing, and the car was almost cancelled. A couple Chevy salesmen ... Read More
We bought an '03 Impala LS for my wife a couple weeks ago at Love Chevrolet in Seaside, CA. It was the easiest car buying experience we've ever had. There was absolutely no pressure. Even before we got into the "little room" to discuss price and financing the salesman said "We'll work with some numbers and send you home to sleep on them." And they did. There was no pressure to ... Read More
HI All - I presently own a 1995 Lumina with 139,000+ miles. Looking to replace it. Drove both the Impala std and LS - like the 3.8L V6. LS felt like a better ride than the Lumina while the Impala Std. felt worse than the Lumina (mushy ride). I do 80+ miles/day. Like the big car quiet ride. Am thinking of a used Impala LS 2000+ model year with under 30,000 ... Read More
Hi, my son-in -law owns a Nissan Altima. He had a problem so I went over to the Altima site. I presented the problem asking for any help from owners who might have experienced a similar problem on a 1995 Altima. No response. I looked at a couple hundred of their notes and had many laughs. All they talk about is where to get the best trade in values and prices ... Read More

I don't see Chevrolet making any major changes to the 2003 Impala model. The current Malibu has not changed since its inception in 1997. The sheet metal on the Cavalier since 1995. minor updates are usually made to their cars during a model run. In this case I am assuming the Impala will run from 2000 to 2004, with the same sheet metal. The 2003 Impala might have a change in ... Read More

This morning (thursday) My friend and I (we both have 2001 Impala LS cars met (for 1 1/2 hours) with the Niagra District GM Supervisor at a local Chevy dealership. He is responsible for all of the GM dealerships in the Niagra corridor in Southern Ontario Canada. My friend had a list of issues to deal with including the DIC problem. Right off the top he informed us that in the ... Read More

This engine is used on a wide selection of GM corporate vehicles: * Pontiac Grand AM GT * Oldsmobile Alero GLS * Chevy Impala Base * Chevy Montecarlo LS * Pontiac Aztek * Buick Rendezvous * Chevy Venture Mini Van * Pontiac Montana * Oldsmobile Sillouette mini van. It is a very good, reliable engine and much better in my opinion than the old 3100 OHV V6 offered on other GM ... Read More

Those testing centres are secretive. On the other end of the temperature scale, there are facilities here in Ontario where cold testing is done. I know Saturn did some trials there. But, they were never smart enough (where do the marketing people get their degrees?) to put a block heater in their cars for the Canadian market. We have -10-20F weather. It is an option for goodness sakes. As are floor ... Read More

You have similar problems and dissatisfaction. A very frustrating situation. We are all interested in the outcomes of your cases! I am still unconvinced that GM does not know the origin of the problem. I believe they do but are trying to avoid a massive recall. Thus the fix-this, fix-that response until you are worn down. And the notion of a lubricant fix is just ludicrous! Bushings on suspensions are not ... Read More
