Sorry, I did not see your comment. It was the most problematic car we had ever owned too. We also have a 2009 Chevrolet Impala that continues to have issues. Gear shift stuck and we had to have it towed and fixed. Now the air conditioner is making a noise. We are very disappointed in the Chevrolet products. I am pretty comfortable in statng that I will not buy Chevrolet again. ... Read More
I'm impressed with your gas mileage. I going to check into the cold air intake and mass airflow sensor. Do these parts effect the warranty? I have a 2009 (bought new) that I'm using 85 Ethanol. I just bought a 2011 Malibu LT which is another great Chevy. I asked the salesman if the HHR is going away and he old me no. I think my HHR is a great car. ... Read More
You must have meant this reply for thesubsitute, My 06 HHR is fine with no major problems yet (but I only have 110,000 miles on it ).
I am glad that your problems got repaired and your car is running well. Mine is at the dealer getting a new rack and pinion and steering box... another 1,000 into a car that has 30k miles on it.... So now I have put over 2k into a car that should have never had any of these problems.I am hoping that this solves the problems I have been having since driving ... Read More
I took the HHR to the dealership and he turned the Hubs on the back cause they were shaped like an egg and should have been round, the dimming lights are suppose to do that. Everything is fine now
I would have the dealer check, popping sound may be something unusual. The dimming of dash lights my be it switching from daytime (bright dash lights) to night time (dimmer) lights because the sensor is detecting low light situation.
While you're there get the brakes checked. Chances are they're shot. Sorry! Dimming lights sound like a ground problem to me.
When Braking I hear a popping noise in back, wondering if anyone else is dealing with this and also my dash lights will dim and get bright for some reason. This is the first time I have had a Chevrolet, it has 31000 miles and I have had it 10 days, it drives like a dream and I am taking to dealership tomorrow. I love the HHR.
I have a 2009 HHR LT2 with the 2.4 L . When I first got it the mileage wasn't so good, (20 city, 26 Highway) took it to dealer who told me that Chevrolet recommends number 1 tier gasoline, example, Chevron, or Shell etc. also most gasonline has a ethanol blend that causes the mileage to drop, try gas without the ethanol, I did and have a vast improvement. I am ... Read More
I saw some other posts on this topic, but it seems like people jump around here, so I wasn't sure where to put this. I need some help and/or feeback on my 2008 HHR. This morning, I started up my car and went to shift out of park and nothing happened. (No, I did not use my autostart and yes my key was in the ignition in the on position). The ... Read More
It seems that everyone seems to be having problems with the brakes. I have a 2007 HHR and a few months after I owned the car the whole front end started to vibrate. I thought it was the rotors (no I take that back it was the rotors) but no one at the dealer would listen. They insisted that rotors do not wear away at three months nor do brakes...their suggestion ... Read More
I'm wondering about the life cycle on 2006 HHR brakes & pad replacement given they now have a $75 coupon good till 8/31/2009... I had progressive problems with mine vibrating starting @ 6000 miles and I waited longer than I should have. The original dealer dropped off the Chevy Network and I took it to Jack Maxton Chevrolet on SR 161 in Columbus Ohio who fixed it on the 1st time ... Read More

I love Chevys. I never had a bad one. I still own my first chevy (1966 Chevelle) that I bought in 1973 while in high school. I was looking at a new 2009 HHR that was discounted at local Chevy dealership. The price looked good and as long as it had A/C and a radio I would buy it. I bought the car sight unseen as they had to pick up ... Read More
Hello to everyone, I bought a 2006 Chevy HHR in December from a Carmax in Texas, it was transferred from the San Antonio Store to the Cypress Store which is in the Houston area. Not even having it a week i was back at carmx because there was broken glass under my drivers and passenger front seats, and also inside the drivers seat where the back of the seat meats the ... Took a test drive the other day in a very base 2009 HHR LS with the 2.2L automatic transmission (that was the only option). Check out my full report in the HHR Test Drive thread. The power window switches are now on the door armrest (and they are illuminated). The "ambient" spot light overhead is no longer there. A nice touch: there is now a "leather" boot around the automatic transmission ... Read More
I've been looking at getting a new car and I've narrowed it down to either the HHR or the Malibu. I stopped by my local Chevy dealer today and was able to compare the two side by side and take both vehicles out for a quick test drive. I drove the HHR first and here's what I thought of the vehicle. I tested a 2009 HHR LS automatic with the 2.2L. ... Read More
The HHR will likely give you mid -20's around town and into the 30's mpg highway. It's cousin the Chevy Cobalt which is built on the same chassis is also a very nice car for the money and tops in mileage with the great Ecotec engine of course. Stay away from the Caliber because its build quality is not very good and average mileage. The upcoming Chevy Aveo for 2009 will ... Read More
