It is what it is.

The retro design is appealing to this old man with desires formed in the 1960's. The 2400 engine is amazingly responsive. The transmission has a lot to do with the responsiveness. Both are smooth without the power mower sound. The entry and seating are suitable for this arthritic. We use it for short runs and errands. For journies longer than a few hundred miles, the crampedness and the small driver's legroom would become cumbersome. With 20,000 miles we had to have the rotors turned as it shimmied violently at high speed braking. I understand this has been a problem with other owners. We will see how this plays out. Being rural it is nice to have nearby GM service.
Favorite Features
Design, size, economy, comfort for a small car. Roominess for a small car.
Suggested Improvements
Design would suffer, but the visability is somewhat limited by the design.

Love it!
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LS 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
After having the HHR for just over a year I still love it! It is fun to drive, comfortable and roomy. Like that with the rear and front seat folded I can haul an 8' 2x4! Even tho its a small car I can adjust the seat up so I feel like I am sitting up higher. The MPG is very good, have gotten upwards to 35-40 on long trips.
Favorite Features
The versatility, styling, roominess, MPG.
Suggested Improvements
Larger storage pockets on the doors. Would also like to see 2 doors on the rear that open from the center like those on a Suburban rather than the hatch.

Our HHR - Great Car!
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LT 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
It was my wife's decision to buy this car. She purchased the 2006 Red Spring Edition package. As we also have a Trailblazer, I felt that she could have the HHR and I'd keep driving the TB. I've never been able to convince myself that I could get by with 4 cylinders having grown up in the muscle car age group. But, we've parked the TB in the garage and have driven the HHR 99% of the time! I was wrong about owning a 4 banger as this car has proven to me time and time again. Don't settle for the 2.2 engine, to sluggish! Buy the 2.4 with 175hp! It is quite zippy! Our HHR still has people turning their heads when we drive by and others stop us to ask questions about it. Buy one! You'll like it!
Favorite Features
Gas mileage, averaging 27mpg city and 32mpg highway. Sunroof, performance from a 4 cylinder, handling and remote start. Can't say that there is anything we don't like about it!
Suggested Improvements
I'd love to see Chevrolet come out with a SS package for this car. We'd buy another one in a heartbeat! The passenger seat isn't as comfortable as the drivers. The powered seat for the passenger should be an option.

Room, Comfort, and Economy
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LT 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Before buying, I drove a Nissian Versa and a KIA Rondo. I found the HHR to be more comfortable, handle and ride better, be more responsive, and very close on fuel economy. I am very satisfied with my purchase and have gotten 34+ mpg on the highway with A/C operating. I also feel the little wagon handles like a big car.
Favorite Features
Handling, fuel economy, and versitility.
Suggested Improvements
Splash guards should be standard equipment.

Pros and Cons
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LT 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I've had my HHR for over a year now, and while it's fun to drive, i've had no shortage of problems, namely ongoing electrical problems with the signal lights, windshield seal leak, leak in windshield causing failure of heating system, paint chipping along bottom and rear, deprogramming of key/ignition, signal light failure, occasional popping noise when the radio is off, sticky first and second gear. That being said, it's a very unique and fun car. I've put 18" wheels on, making it sporty and quick handling. Stiff suspension, much like a sports coupe, especially with larger wheels on. Gas mileage is great, about 25 mpg in city/rush hour/stop and go traffic.
Favorite Features
Love the styling, and gas mileage is fabulous. I put 18" sport tires on mine in summer, and the ride and handling is much like a sports coupe. Lots of room in hatch for whatever you need to move. With the seats folded down, we fit a full size washing machine in the back.
Suggested Improvements
More HP and torque would be great-V6 even better. I'd pay more for it. Problems fairly minor, but an abundance of them. Definately dropped the ball on the assembly line. (in Mexico!) Solution to paint chipping on bottom and rear is a must! Leg room in rear limited, wouldn't want to sit there long.

2006 HHR
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LT 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Purchased new 2.4L with 5 speed manual transmission. Fun to drive although does not inspire hard driving. Fuel economy close to EPA estimates, to achieve the highway EPA must be kept under 70 mph. Mine has the "sport" suspension, still has excessive body roll. 17" wheels a must.
Favorite Features
Excellent A/C, I'm in Phoenix Az. Versatile interior.

Fun to drive. Everyone asks what it is and I love telling them. I wanted a car with fenders and this had it. I like the PT Cruiser but it was way too small. This is everything I wanted and needed!
Favorite Features
The looks. Handles like nothing else I have driven. I had to test it twice before I bought it. I recomened you do the same.
Suggested Improvements
Power mirrors switches are in a weird place but you get used to it. Blind spots are different but manageable. You either love this car or hate it. I love it. ItÂ’s different and you need to keep that in mind!

What a great fun car!

I bought my HHR last year, and love everything about it. It is great on gas, and has a lot of room to haul things around. I bought it since I have 2 kids that play soccer, and it was voted the safest car on the road, in fact my insurance went down over $600 for the year! If that isnt reason enough to buy it then let me add that it is comfortable and roomy on the inside. The outside style is awesome, I love when people stop me in parking lots to ask me about the performance and things like that. Trust me, I would not want to drive anything else.
Favorite Features
The exterior, it is such a sporty classic look. I love the way it handles, and that it is great on gas!I also like that all the information you need is at your fingertips, I like to see how many more miles I can get until my next fill up. I also like the lower lumbar seats.
Suggested Improvements
I dont see any way to improve this car, Except to give me free gas and oil changes for life!

HHR Rules Over PT
Vehicle
2006 Chevrolet HHR LT 4dr Wagon (2.2L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Awesome car that I think Chevrolet has outdone themselves on. Much more class than a PT Cruiser plus, it's a Chevy for pete's sake! More tradition, more quality and a better looking car. Great performance and interior space and styling. Have driven both a PT Cruiser and now own an HHR. Enough said! Go get one for yourself!
Favorite Features
Styling, handling, Chevrolet
Suggested Improvements
None at this time. Why mess with a good thing?

Was looking a PT but when these came out I was sold. Reminded me of my 1951 pickup I regret selling. HRR is not a sports car but who cares. She handles good enough for me and I have owned 3 Vettes! Bought it with 6000 miles on her and she was loaded and got a deal so there is no negative here. I see more and more of these on the road and could not be happier with my purchase.
Favorite Features
Handling is great. Haven't noticed any brake or cornering problems. Styling is fantastic, and to be honest I am excited that GM finally is putting out a quality product that actually has some style to it.
Suggested Improvements
Maybe a turbo option and 4 wheel disc brakes.
