You state, and I have read elsewhere, that locking differentials are not available from the factory anymore. I see it is not listed as an option currently on the Chevy Express cargo van. When did availability stop? I'm trying to identify the type of differential on a used 2003 Chevy Express 3500 I bought.

I, too, have been interested in this thread. I will be working on a 2000 GMC for a friend with this same problem. He has wasted $1K on failed fixes. I have 40 years experience in electronics and rebuild wrecked or flooded vehicles as a hobby. I find one notable response on this forum referring to a loose ground at the thermostat housing. I also would like to share that alldatadiy.com ... Read More

Our 2003 van had the same problem. Turned out that the ABS brake module failed and had to be replaced... $700. Ouch. Make sure no after market electronics have been wired into that circuit as it can rob amps from the module causing the problem.

Had it towed to the dealership where it was determined the neutral safety switch and both harnesses had to be replaced. They also stated that they reprogrammed and updated the module. Is this a common problem with this vehicle? I requested my old parts and the harnesses had literally fused ... Read More

From Anchorage Alaska; I have the full time AWD 2003 Chevy Express. It is great in the snow. I have some good snow tires and can drive circles around anything else on the road. 235/75-16 is the perfect size snow tire for the weight of this vehicle. Go any wider and run the risk of floating over the snow.
