Review

Well i couldn't pass up the huge rebates even though i kinda regret it now just because the 2010's are so darn sexy. However i am still pleased and my wife is extremely pleased with our current equinox. Still i prefer the 2009 equinox to the competitions compact suv's.

Favorite Features

Reliable, fits 3 car seats, lots of cargo space (double of my old impala), AWD is nice for canadian winters, and this vehicle is nice enough to shut my wife up :) gm's floormat design won't take me to a fiery crash. Most importantly it is a Chevy.

Suggested Improvements

Worst cup holder design ever, gas cap is on the wrong side, backseat looks uncomfortable....good thing i'm always the driver, and the turning radius is huge. All these are minor things that i can live with though.

my nox is a really good vehicle. I use it like it were a truck, which is what i traded in for it. I had a really bad experience trying to hook a trailer four way plug to it. Now i am trying to hook a 7 prong plug to pull a small pop up camper. I found out that it has some weird electrical system that needs a special something in line. If you don't use it the cars module will blow out, cost around eight hundred dollars to replace. it has something to do with the lights being separate. any help would be happily used.

Favorite Features

size if cargo space and length of space with front seat down

Suggested Improvements

It could use a little more storage space with in driver reach. bigger center console and maybe a higher center console i am unable to reach that low to find things while driving

We looked at a lot of suvs and crossovers. We knew as soon as we drove the Equinox Sport that this was a great vehicle. Great Power and Handling. It can tow my boat, because it has a 3500 lb towing capacity. Has good gas mileage if you do not race around. The warranty is great. Equinox is fun to drive and very versatile.

Favorite Features

xm radio, Blue tooth, Power and 6 speed auto, Handling, ease of entry and exit, Lots of room.

Suggested Improvements

Better cup holders

Test drove escape, rav4, crv, Hyundai Santa Fe. All in all my first choice for interior comfort was the Santa Fe by a large margin. The equinox is simple and cheap feeling, but for the steep discount I got, I couldn't pass it up. Msrp 29,035, purchase price 18,766, lt with lt2, chrome wheels, sun roof, pioneer stereo, leather and heated seats. Runs and feels Nice, but at this point I am still missing the luxury feel that I couldn have had with the limted Santa Fe. Other issue- cheapskate design, no hatch release inside the car? no dome light or hatch light? cmon gm, that is just so lame, have some pride in what your putting on the market. No excuse to be that cheap.

Favorite Features

looks great on the outside, xm radio, roomy interior, sun roof, upgraded pioneer system sounds good for xm radio and cd, but the normal radio is sounding real weird and cheap.

Suggested Improvements

the interior design of controls and placement is just horrible. NOt a deal breaker, but whoever came up with this from chevy should never be allowed to design a car interior again. It's baffling why you would put controls and cupholders where is is awkward to reach them. upgrade interior materials

I have owned the Equinox for 6 months. I am getting 24 MPG on the road. I have owned Tahoes for 15 years and theis Equinox has as much acceleration as the Tahoes. Not one problem with the car in the first 6 months. Nothing to fix or replace.

Favorite Features

Handling. Clean lines. Better fuel economy. 100,000 mile warranty.

Suggested Improvements

None

My whole car shopping experience was done on line. I read all test drives and owner reviews of several vehicles. I used Edmunds calculations for a fair deal. Eliminating vehicles one by one, I was down to the Equinox. It was love at first sight. I test drove it and we were "one with the road immediately". I have taken several trips in complete comfort. I have to admit to being a senior citizen and thought I was going to have to give up night driving. The Equinox puts me slightly above the lights of most oncoming traffic and I have no trouble at all now. The all around vision is very good and the size is perfect for me. I bought the Silver Ice. Love this vehicle! Highly recommended.

Favorite Features

x-m radio is awesome. I love the security of the on-star. The rear seat is adjustable--very nice, whether I need cargo room or seating room.

Suggested Improvements

The heat/air controls could be a little better designed. I do wish the back hatch was two door-but no biggy.

Traded in a 2006 Equinox for the 09 Sport. Great road manners for everyday driving, has the power to pass when needed. Great Pricing, would highly recommend this car.

Favorite Features

3.6 V6 is very peppy, movable rear seat. Plenty of cargo room.

Suggested Improvements

Large turning radius, some cheap interior parts.

I found this SUV to be a good alternative to my 2003 Lexus RX 300. It has good room and handles well. It seems to understeer a little but no problems. It's functional even though ite interior quality is a little inferior. Splash guard below door extends out too far and interferes when exiting.

Favorite Features

Good head room, drivers seat can be raised. On Star is nice but costly renewal.

Suggested Improvements

Storage space should be flat when rear seats are down. Fuel filler should be on drivers side. Cup holders are poorly located. Wasted console design.

Review

Quite a difference going from a Dodge Quad Cab to the SUV, but it was time. The Equinox has everything I was looking for, power, handling, room, looks, etc. After the 1st week (7 days)of ownership, I still had gas from the full tank I left with from the dealership! The 0 to 60 in what feels like 5 seconds really comes in handy when entering the highway in Houston, it's like hitting the "nitro" button! The steering is quite tight and responsive.

Favorite Features

Getting acquainted with the OnStar and hands-free calling system was a breeze and a very welcomed amenity.

Suggested Improvements

The layout of the center console could use some readjustments. The cup-holder locations in the front could use relocation. And if that's all I have to pick apart.

Review

My wife and I recently traded a 2006 Grand Caravan for a 2009 Equinox 2LT. We wanted something a bit smaller and more modern and the Equinox really fits what we were looking for. The styling is great. The controls are far more advanced than GM used to put on their vehicles. The handling is tight. The seats are comfortable. We totally happy with this decision. We looked at many of it's competitors, and liked the Equinox the best by far. Anyone thinking that GM still doesn't make vehicles that consumers want should take a look at the Equinox.

Favorite Features

OnStar, steering wheel controls, stereo, bluetooth, handling, acceleration.

Suggested Improvements

Center console could use the space better.
