I bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox in December of 2009. The week I bought it the steering column locked up and could not remove my key, so the whole steering column had to be replaced. Fast forward to December 2011, engine starts running roughly and missing on start ups, take it in to the dealer and the timing chain is bad. (Due to a bad design states the dealership) They replace ... Read More
Hi, I have a 2010 Equinox and it is literally a hot mess. I bought it brand new from a Chevy Dealer in May 2009. Several months into driving it, the lumbar air bag in the drivers seat popped... while driving. I am a 31 year old female and weigh 130 pounds.... not big enough to be popping seats I would hope. A few months later, I turned my car on ... Read More
No more than a couple of months after getting this thing brand new in December of 2009 with the D.I. 4 cyliner we had to take it back in for a HVAC recall and something to be corrected with the exhaust. No issues for thousands of miles. Then in the spring of 2011 we began having issues with the engine knocking/pinging. I had to take it in a couple of times ... Read More

I just wanted to give my $.02 on my 2010 Equinox (very early production unit, built in mid-2009). It now has over 50,000 miles on it. There were a few early production problems including some cosmetic defects and a leaking seal in the transmission/torque converter due to improper assembly. I had to bring it in for a couple recalls, and had the ECM reprogrammed due to pinging. I also had a ... Read More
I've been watching these threads for about a year now looking for any compelling reasons to consider a 2010/11/12 Equinox purchase. From the information posted here the 2.4L seems has valve timing issues which don't seem prevalent on the 3.0L V6. Engine design details are not easy to find but the following quotes from available internet sources gives background information which you may find helpful:- Equinox2.4L DI details The new 2.4L ... We purchased our 2010 Chevy Equinox in Oct. of 2009. After a few days, we started hearing a small knocking sound from the engine, while inside the car. We noticed a small separation between the bumper and the rear passenger side of the car. We took the car back to the dealership after having the car a week. When we arrived to the dealership, met our service writer. I started explaining ... Read More
