hi kris, my name is jim and i am posting for the first time and hopefully helping you and others. i have a neighbor who called me over to help with a 2005 chevy equinox. he called me because i had a similar problem with a 2004 chevy blazer in which my hatch/ gate would not open and i had to break the inside panel to access the latch then went ... It has been a while since I have responded to my post. AfterI put on my second set of Wagner rotors with ceramic brake pads since the semi-metallic ones were not doing the trick, I drove around and realised the front driver side rotor was twice as hot as the left side rotor. Took it to the shop, Firestone, the next day and had the calipers replaced because of a ceased ... Read More
Anyone knows what pioneer stereo is compatible with the audio of chevy equinox 2006?
jnd1022 - did you ever resolve the issue? I have a 2006 Equinox LT, front wheel drive with 72,000 miles, and noticed it vibrates quite a bit at 70 mph, but even more at 80 mph plus. I added 4 new tires, thinking the vibrating was caused by older tires. The new tires did not help very much. I am wondering if it is a tie rod or an axle. Anyone ... Read More
To clarify the difference between AWD (which the Equinox & most other SUV's have) and 4WD is this: AWD is a system in which the primary drive axle (in the Equinox is the front axle, in my Jeep Commander is the rear axle) only powers the primary drive axle under normal circumstances. When the computer detects a difference between the rotational speed between the front and rear wheels it sends commands ... Read More
Real time 4wheel drive is when the front tires start to slip and the back tires kick in, AWD and 4wheel drive are the same But 4wheel drive has 4 hi and 4 low. Thats why the AWD equinox gets 29 on highways causes it is always on
Hi ~ I leased a 2011 Equinox with 100 miles have since put on about 800 miles haven't had it a month yet and my check engine light came on last Friday took it in to service over the weekend and was told by the service advisor that it was running lean and essentially there was nothing major wrong, cleared out the codes and told me I shouldn't see the light ... To each their own ;) I've had enough problems with most of my GM vehicles in my short life of car buying (I'm 30, so I've been purchasing cars for 14 years) and this one broke the camel's back! I'll be glad to list: 1994 Camero Z28, bought brand new in 1994 -Clutch went after 2 years, I realize it's a HP sports car, but still. -Leaky water pump after 3 ... Read More
Yes, but now that the dealership/service center has, "Rendered the Vehicle Un-driveable", and now that I have tried to go through GM to address my concerns, the dealership is now wanting an authorization for this $1700 worth of service. Ya really have to love coincidence though... 1. That even though my Extended Warranty clearly states that it will expire in the year 2012, according to GM, it Expired the day my ... Read More
Sad thing is - after all the time wasted, this problem is probably fairly easy to fix.
I would like to start off with, we leased a GM Certified used Vehicle from a GM Certified Dealership, with an EXTENDED GM service contract. I can say that the essence of GM customer service to follow you on a Certified Used lease or with their extended warranty sucks. Our Equinox has recently had issues with the shifter and shifter cable. Still inside of the 80k/ 5 year extended warranty we ... Read More
An opportunity may exist for us to buy a 2005 Chevy Equinox if it is still available in a month or so. I've seen photos of this SUV and it LOOKS great, leather interior and from what I've read, all the bells and whistles. It is the AWD model and has a little over 103K on it. The price recently dropped from $8600 to $8250 but I would try and get ... Read More
Well...All depends on the year you're looking at. My Equinox was a 2005 LT and traded it in 2010 as soon as my "extended warranty" was over, it had 40K's on it. It was a good thing that I had purchased that extended warranty because it would have emptied my bank account. Lots of 2005 and 2006 models were "junk"... problems with no end. I'm not saying all of them are ... Read More
I bought a 2006 Equinox AWD LT brand new. Early on I noticed the same problems with the rattling noise on the front drivers side, usually on a little rougher pavement. Didn't think too much of it. By 30,000 miles I realised it was the front shocks/struts. I had replaced the rear ones around 25,000 miles because one leaked and the walls of the shock were grinding. I replace the front ... It is nice to know that I am not alone. I have had my 2010 Equinox 4cyl AWD for a year now and have 39,700 miles on it (I commute 3,000 miles a month). That was replaced under warranty. ... Read More
Hello Ksliv5, I would recommend the Chevy dealership to work on the vehicle. I hope the repair goes well. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you, Mariah GM Customer Service
Well we have talked to the Chevy Lot and I think they are going to be able to help us out and make sure it gets fixed. I would rather have them work on it anyway, than a "transmission shop", since it is a Chevrolet Vehicle. I think we will be satisfied. :) :)
Well we took it to a Transmission Shop and sure enough its shot... Prices start at $1595.00 up to $3000.00. Not sure what to do right now. Do I wait until Thursday and take it back to the Chevy Lot to see if GM can help out or do I get it taken care of at Aamco??
Hello, we have a 2006 Equinox. We purchased it used in 2007 and have had several problems with it. The engine light would come off and on for about 2 years. It probably stayed on so much that the light prob blew. We took it to the Chevy lot to get it looked at, then they want 100.00 to run it through the computer, which is a big ripoff. Well now, ... I am having this same issue with my equinox, have you been able to find out the problem?
I test drove several Chevy Equinoxes and did not find the seats uncomfortable at all. In fact, I would say the seat configuration and shape are some of the more positive factors about the car. My wife, who generally is very critical of automotive seats, also found those in the Equinox to be quite exemplary. There was a time in the '80s and '90s when domestic automotive seats were absolutely terrible ... Read More
Greetings, My daughter has a 2006 equinox that has about 40,000 miles, few if any problems with the vehicle up to now. Beginning recently, especially when the car is cold, driving up a hill results in the tachometer reaching 3,000 or 4,000 rpm's and the car slowing to about 10 mph. Increasing the engine speed does not increase the speed of the vehicle, it is almost as if the transmission is ... Read More

While AWD is a big advantage in the snow, there is value all year round. Have you ever hydroplaned go 50-55 mph? Not a good feeling. The AWD also kicks in if slippage occurs while running in a stream of water accumulating in the tire ruts of an asphalt highway in July. Mileage ? I went for a test drive in a new LTZ six cylinder AWD Chevy Equinox this morning. I was not impressed. First of all, the car is grossly underpowered. Much has been made of how quiet the Equinox is but I found it to be just average. As mentioned above, ... Read More

Issues i not the word, get the word ,anyone out there who are having any type of problem with this vehicle,we need to join forces and have a vehicle recall on this 2005,2006,or 2007, or 2008 chevy equinox.I ALSO REITERATE THAT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WILL IMPROVE OUR CHANCES IF GM FAILS TO FIX THINK CHEVY EQUINOX KLUNK OF JUNK!!!
Sounds RPM related, as rpm drops when you hit 5th gear (overdrive)....so I'd say either exhaust rattle or CV joint vibration. Not wheels because the car stays at same speed even if RPM drops because you are in a higher gear.
Take the technician with you for the test drive. You drive the Equinox then you can go over the speed limit as you wish and he will still be able to hear or fell the vibrations, rattles and noise sitting in the passenger seat just as well. What you want is that he detects the problem, so no matter who drives, you'll get the same result at the end.
The speed limit on the freeway out here is 75. Maybe you need to try one of our dealers.
You expect the dealer to have one of his people speed? That's about as foolish as anything I've read for some time. We know how much you respect others.
Between 72 and 75 mph I hear a rattle or vibration. RPMs climb normally like in a passing gear. When I get to 76, RPM drop back to around 2000 and noise stops. When I slow down under 75 it starts again until the speed falls below 72. Anyone have any idea? I took it to the dealer today. They said they cannot test the car above speed limit. Of course ... Mine is a 2005 LT It's great in winter but remember a AWD is not the same as a 4X4. Lots of people are confused they think it's the same. You drive normally and when your front wheels spin the back wheels kick in automatically and you get traction on all 4. Then when your front wheels spinning is over the rear wheels disengage and so on. You only have to ... Read More

I have reason to believe that someone in my neighborhood has been siphoning gas from random cars on my street. If not, is there anything I can buy to prevent this from happening to me?

You're welcome, icedog97. The salesperson who told you that they have no control over the 7.25% rate that they quoted you was lying. GMAC's base lease rate for the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox is currently only 6.50%. Hi upndwn. GMAC's lease rates and residual values usually last for two to three months, but its cash incentives often including the cash that is available on leased vehicles usually changed about every month.
