2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT AWD 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I bought this new and have 55000 miles on it so far. Tires wear out faster on the front than the rear. It bucks the crosswinds a lot. It has a lot of front end noises and rattles going over rough pavement. Dealer says sway bar links could be the problem, I'll try replacing those, but I think its in the steering (knuckle)? Can't do better than 23 miles per gallon on hwy. Small gas tank. Knock on Wood.
Favorite Features
Peppy motor.
Suggested Improvements
Fix front end rattles and steering driftiness. Too top heavy on windy days. Needs bigger gas tank.

1st and last Chevy I'll ever own
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT Fwd 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
This car has been a great dissapointment since we bought it. It had a window leak it took the dealer 4 times to fix, gas mileage is 25% lower than sticker (only to find out there was a brake cylinder stuck when we replace the brakes at 60k, dealer never discovered it or attempted to fix poor gas mileage), the alarm dings for no apparent reason and wont shut off, even with car running or key out (again dealers in Tx and TN could/would not fix), satellite radio goes to static in and around cities, even with clear view of sky. Just to name a few of the problems we've had with no resolution from the dealers or Chevy. What a piece of junk. Should have bought the Escape.

Maybe I had a Lemon
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT AWD 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
The car itself is sporty and the funtionability of the seating and space is great. The quality of material is not good, seat fabric stains when it rains, steering wheel material is ruff, radio back plate or whatever you want to call it is all warn off making the car look very very used. My car broke down since the first 500 miles I pick it up, and still is broken ever since then. Get stuck a lot. One more payment. Cant wait to give it back!
Favorite Features
The look of the vehicle and funtionability of space and seating is good.
Suggested Improvements
Extra cup holder is located over the e- brake so you can't use both at once. Materials need much improving, see above.

Replacing 1989 Chev wagon
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Equinox LS AWD 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have enjoyed driving this car. Excellent results when towing boats and trailers with 3500 rated hitch. 21 mpg traveling to Florida from New England.
Favorite Features
This SUV has plenty of leg room front and back. Easy to get into for passengers with short legs. Nice handling at all speeds.
Suggested Improvements
Lower headrests in back seat will improve line of sight. This was corrected in later models.

Hunk of Junk
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT Fwd 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have had this vehicle for 2.5 yrs now, and I've had to have brand new rotors and break pads; along with brand new tires, visor, and stereo. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. There is also a problem where the starter cranks after the key is released, and Chevrolet, in their service bulletin (#03-06-03-001D) states this is "normal." There are a ton of blind spots with this vehicle also. You couldn't pay me enough money to ever get a Chevrolet again.
Favorite Features
I do like the roominess in the back seat area. My daughter has long legs, and that is great; along with the trunk area.
Suggested Improvements
Pretty much everything except the roominess.

I was pulled between this suv and the Nissan Murano and decided that for the price and the difference in fuel economy this was the smarter choice. I don't believe I have made a smarter choice in the last 3 years of ownership. When it is time for a new car I will most definitely look at the Equinox as my first choice again, and I must say if something is going to beat the Equinox it will have to be just the most awsome car of all time, and I don't see that happening.
Favorite Features
I find it very fun to drive and when I want it to go the power almost scares me. It took quite sometime to get used to the power of my Equinox. I went from a Pontiac Grand Am to the Equinox....wow
Suggested Improvements
The only thing I can think I would like different is a way to hide stuff in the way back easier. And maybe for the back window to go down.

Disgusted
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Equinox LS Fwd 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I bought this new and drive about 35000 miles a year. First 100000 miles fine. Since then, I have replaced one front wheel bearing, one of the 2 fuel pumps, brakes, the exhaust manifold. It has been a constant, very expensive headache this past year. Paint on the console has worn off. Turning radius is awful. Sell yours before you reach 100000 miles. This vehicle won't help the reputation of American car manufacturers.
Favorite Features
Rides well on the highway, relatively comfortable.
Suggested Improvements
Very cheap interior needs to be upgraded. Re-engineer the fuel tank and fuel pump location. Make it last past 100000 miles.

Don't buy a 2005 - you will regret it

The car looks great, however, I have had nothing but problems, I owned the car a month and the rear differential had to be completely replaced. The AWD still doesn't work correctly and is always engaged, so if it's raining it's like driving on ice, literally! The gas mileage was supposed be 25+ mpg, it's more like 16 or 17 mpg. I will not even put my daughters in the car with me anymore because I feel so unsafe when driving it, I should just sell it but I worry about a person safety that would buy it. I have contacted GMC with no response on their end.

The AWD and entire rear differential obvously has some problems, I now have 38k on the vehicle so my warranty is obviously expired, I think Chevrolet needs to do whatever it takes to get this lemon to a safe driving level.

Review
At first it was a nice car until the problems started. I had the brakes redone at 14000 miles. The a/c doesn't work on the drivers side. I already have rust starting on the back end. Warranty takes care of these. But I have to put my second windshield in because it cracks in the same spot starting below the rubber near the passenger door. Niether of them are from cracks The most annoying part is that I can't clean snow off of the windshield because of the design. The snow gets stuck and builds up because the "wings" that stick further out than the windshield. I am currently looking for a new car.
Favorite Features
The car is cheap...
Suggested Improvements
I think GM needs to go back to the drawing board. It is not designed for the winter.

Poor mileage but plenty of power, small gas tank, small cramped interior, emergency brake handle hits cup holder, bumps are very rough, pcv valve riveted in, front seats are small, interior has too much plastic, awkward center console, window buttons very confusing, pinch fingers on shift button
Favorite Features
front doors open wide, heavy hood, easy air filter access
Suggested Improvements
don't buy one, re-design from scratch
