Please help me!

2005 Chevrolet Equinox LT Fwd 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A)
I bought my car in april 2012. its an '05 chevy equinox. ive had it for 5 months now and it has been in the shop 5 times. The first time was the day after i got it for an alignment. The second time was because my brakes would fail, not stop and vibrate/jerk. I would have to push really hard on the brake to actually stop. the abs light would come on and my traction control would turn off. the car would be out of control and not stop. I took it to one of DT's shops and they supposeably fixed it. not even a week later, the brakes wouldnt work and the abs light/traction control light came on. i took it back to the shop and this
time the people at the shop were jerks. said nothing was wrong and to basically drive until i crash it or dont drive at all. left the shop drove approximately 2 miles the abs light/traction control light came on. took it right back. they said oh there is a problem. they replaced the abs sensor. got it back a week later and they said it was fixed. once again right when it got out it drove fine but not even a week later the brakes would not work. i got fed up with DT that i went a month without doing anything. the car was getting so bad that i took it to a different shop. they replaced the abs sensor again. got it back still the same problem. took it back they changed the driver side hub assembly. got it out was okay then week later back in the shop. this time it was the brake module sensor or something like that. got it back about three weeks ago and still having the same problem but its worse now. i cant tell you how many times ive almost been in a accident its ridiculous. what can i do? can anyone help me figure out how to get rid of this car?
I had the same problem but was a grand prix. I would stand on the brake pedal and I still didn't think the car was going to stop. Really scary. It was a wore through wire to the abs sensor. what I did until the problem was found was to unplug the fuse's for the ABS. Now granted I didn't have any abs brakes or traction control BUT by car would stop.
Elizabeth, I hope your trouble has been fixed by now.
If it isn't, here's a paste from an answer I posted to another 2005 owner a short while ago.
This may help if the mechanic hasn't found the second drivers front connector;
"It may also be a wheel sensor connector problem on the drivers front wheel area causing abnormal ABS operation.
If you have ever opened the coolant surge tank while hot and have had a substancial amount of spillover, there is a posibility of a light short of the left front wheel sensor connector;
not at the wheel, but just inside the engine compartment, attached to the inner fender.
This connector cannot be seen from the engine compartment due to congestion.
You will need to have the mechanic remove the front drivers wheel and remove the 4 reusable plastic fastners that hold the inner fender lower plastic skirt in place and lower the skirt.
By following the sensor wire you will quickly find the second connector which sits beneath the surge tank.
Although this is a weatherized connector, all bets are
200+ degree coolant is poured on it.
Release the connector fastner by gently compressing the fastener stud that protrudes into the wheel well from the engine compartment, pull loose,
disconnect the connections and clean internally and externally with a good electronics cleaner being careful not to get any on other parts or body paint.
When all traces of the reddish brown [coolant and required water sealer in 4.3L] are cleaned away, you can wait for drying and reassemble.
Once everything is back together and your ABS can reliably read the front left wheel rotation, it'll stop thinking that you are on ice and stop pulsing the pressure regulation solenoid, giving a much better feel to the performance and ride in general."
Take it back to the dealer you bought it from, on a busy day, like a Saturday.
Talk with the sales manager publicly, out on the floor, and tell him you're very unhappy with the car and have had nothing but problems and they have to take it back.
Go in angry, firm, and with the mindset that you will not leave until they take care of this to your satisfaction.
Get loud if you have to (no profanity).
My sister had to do this with a terrible lemon of a Mercury Mariner after 10 months of owning it and it being in their shop half the time.
