Mine started out as overheating problem,but in the end got screwed by gm as the cooland originally used in this vehicle dexcool, as not thus ate away most of the head gaskey,mine was replaced with only 62,000 miles.i bough it when it had 32,000 ,i will neaver do that again!!!what a lemon and chevy-gm refuses to acknowledge it!!!

The problem is not with the Equinox...it's with ALL the 3.4 L engines. I had a Venture with a 3.4 L engine and the head gasket blew (prematurely) @ 12,000 miles. the a Montana still with that 3.4 L engine and again...a blown head gasket @ 31,000 miles. Bye Bye Equinox
Well...it's done. Last night I went and traded-in my 2005 Equinox LT (that was bought new) for a 2010 Chevrolet HHR LT (with the 2.4 L engine). My Equinox has been pretty good. Most repairs where done under warranty. The only repair I had to pay for was a "blown head gasket" + the normal maintenance. I just hope I'll have the same fun driving the HHR than the Equinox.

Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for water leakage in 2005-2009 Torrent ,Equinox's. Dated Oct 8 2008 TSB 08-08-57-001A covers all types of water leaks in the vehicle and your water in the spare tire compartment. Have the chevy dealer check this TSB ,water is coming in from one of the seams . Probable needs to have new sealant applied to the seam area of compartment.

YA I had the battery replaced because one or two cells was shorting and decreasing the capacity of the battery , showed up in -22 Celsius and when listing to the radio for two and half hours while waxing the new NOX. I once had a 1999 chevrolet Venture and it had a 3.4 L. also and at 37,000 miles I had to replace the head gasket. Now I own a 2005 Equinox with the 3.4 L. engine and no problem with the gaskets and I'm at 22,500 miles. The only thing I can't figure out is that it's a bit harder on gas consumption than my Venture was. Go figure!

I have to differ with you on the 3.4L engine. I've had two of them, and they have both failed me. The one in my 2000 Olds Alero has breeched the intake manifold gasket, and is leaking coolant out onto the ground. I had an 2005 Equinox with multiple issues also. I ended up taking a hit on it and trading it in for a Mazda 6. I would contact the Better Business Bureaus (BBB) and inform them of all your issues and go after Chevy that way. Good luck to you!

Air conditioner issues
I am driving my fleet vehicle a 2005 Chevy Equinox. My biggest complaint is that the air conditioner quits emitting cold air after driving for 2 hours. Sometimes I am able to get the air started again by toggling the on/off button. Any advice is appreciated. Just spent 4 days in the shop with new solution. Thanks.

Warped Rotors
As hard as it is to believe, tightening the lug nuts the wrong way does indeed cause the rotors to warp on certain chevy models. I have a 2004 Malibu Maxx and a 2005 Equinox. My Brand New Equinox
We just purchased a 2005 LT-SD Package Equinox. We purchased from Community Chevrolet in Burbank, initial contact was made via email. They were very helpful. I got the SD package in Galaxy Silver with 17" rims, total before tax and fees was $21,300.00, they financed us for 4.5% Very happy with the dealer experience, love the car. The cloth interior is a little blah, but love everything else.
