2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Diesel 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl Turbodiesel 6A)

Review

The Cruze diesel is amazing! Highway fuel mileage is over 50mpg if you drive at 70mph. Good acceleration, decent handling and ride qualities combined with nice leather interior are hard to beat in its class After 15.000 completely trouble free miles it has only been back to my dealer for free oil service and tire rotation

Favorite Features

My favorite feature is the amazing little Diesel engine. It starts right up when temperature are in single digits and my average high way mileage is 50+, average for secondary roads and surburban is 34 to 38 mpg. And high 20's in heavy traffic (stop and go) Blind spot direction is also very helpful

Suggested Improvements

Better quality audio system

It takes eats my expectations in all aspects. This car has been 100 percent trouble free, recall free, and a great pleasure to drive everyday.living in Southern California San Diego area, there are lots of hills. even with the hills I'm getting around 40 miles per gallon combined city and I went with the Chevy Cruze d GM has not disappointed

Favorite Features

my favorite features of the car are, the door shut nice and solid just like my Mercedes SLK. the car feels nice and heavy and hunkers down to the road like a German car.

Suggested Improvements

next generation should have a dual clutch transmission.

Review

Best car I've owned in a long time, I have been waiting for a reliable American diesel car. The VW reviews and horor stories make the Chevy Cruze a easy choice.

Review

Bought 2014 diesel Cruze in Sept, currently have 5774 miles on vehicle.. Mileage stated 46 mpg..luckily to get 28 mpg..on frwy, mechanic stated that I need to set the trip every time I got fuel to show higher mpg vehicle misrepresented. Check engine lights: have had it in the shop more than my Ford SUV, also get higher MPG in Ford. starts on its own no remote start? No short trips allow so no more running to the store in my new car..carbon build up on sensors the stated that I averaged 28 mph.. And I was doing the frwy.. Coolant steam and smell in the cabin..let us not forget Recalls..Parts that need replaced but not available.. Including air bags and shaft that splits in half

Favorite Features

.. Can I say lemon...do not buy..

Suggested Improvements

Isuzu engine has been on the market for a long time and is time tested.. So what happen to the Diesel Cruze.. Failing bad..hype is all wrong and misrepresentive

Review

I drive on average 44,000 miles a year. I am reimbursed by the mi, so low cost of ownership is big. So far I have put 29,000 miles on the car. My lifetime average is 40.4 mpg. That's city highway and high speed. I should say the trunk is good size and I typically have 200-300 pounds in the back. I have had averages as high as 55 mpg and never had a tank below 34 mpg. The tan interior is the color to get. The dash is covered in vinyl versus the course cloth on the black interior. The light and dark contrast looks GREAT. DEF usage is minimal 5 gallon per 10,000mi. Buying in the 2.5 gallon containers keeps cost down. Oil changes are a little pricey, $65.

Favorite Features

The best feature is low operating costs. Oil changes are 6000+ miles apart, DEF runs $10 per 5000 mi, at 29k factory tires have tons of life left, and averaging 40mpg! The seats are great for me. I routinely spend 4-6 hours at a time in the car, and at the end I get out and I'm not tired, sore, or worn out. This is one quiet car on the highway. My last car was a Buick lacrosse and this is as quiet if not more so. It also has a great ride, smooth and controlled, but still goes around corners nicely with precise steering. The Chevy mylink system is not as fancy as some but for me it's simple and it just works. The pioneer sound system is pretty good, very heavy on the bass.

Suggested Improvements

The biggest issue I have is simply availability of the correct spec oil. I have had to order it for DIY oil changes (after the service plan was up). From what I've seen the DIY route just doesn't save much money on this car. My only other issue is AC vent placement. This seems to be an issue with all cars though. To get air on your face it hits your hands when they are correctly places on the steering wheel.
