Car rides well and looks nice, but the transmission has known issues--slow and delayed shifts, and in manual mode downshifts into first are very harsh at times.
These issues were confirmed and documented by the dealership: “transmission downshifts hard in manual mode….confirmed that three like vehicle do the same harsh downshifting. Call GM TAN, case #…., GM is aware for the condition and trying to correct…called GM TAN …GM is working on a change to correct this condition.”
Chevy was aware of the problem redid the software package on the LT model for 2012, but no change was implemented in time for the 2012 LS Cruze.
No other automatic I have ever driven has performed as poorly.
Transmission performance on the 2011 LS and LT model is unacceptable, performance on 2012 model on LT fair with new software.
Also achieved mileage was well below EPA estimates--with 90 percent highway mileage was 28.5m, never saw over 31.5 on the highway, well short of the 35 epa estimate.
I have always manged to beat the epa on my other cars.
I have a 2011 Chevy Cruz with 9500 miles on it.
the gas mileage is not all the great averaging 26 mpg.
Transmission shift roughs and was taken to the dealership, Mark Christopher of Ontario, Ca.
They found that the seals were leaking transmission fluid.
Seals were replace with new fluid.
Transmission did not shift as rough as before but does shift rough.
I have driven the 2012 Ford Focus, Fiesta Kia Forte all with 6 speeds auto transmission all of them shifted smoothly.
In comparison I would probable buy something else.
