I have a 2008 C6 which is more or less the same car. The thing I cannot figure out is why no one will test a base C6 with the F55 (Magnetic Ride system). It more or less eliminates the twitchy handling that always seems to be the main complaint of the reviewer... Add a set of Z51 sway bars to the F55 equiped cars and you have a car that ... Read More

Good catch starrow but unfortunately that special extension has expired as of Feb. 2008, so I didn't mention it. HOWEVER, now that you brought it up, I'll post it anyway and maybe he can lever the dealer or Chevy if he wants to spend the time to do so. Gee, that sounds about as bad as GM having a bulletin out about transmission noises. They are not required to fix transmissions with "marbles in a coffee can" noises with the 6AT. Their bulletin supercedes any Lemon Law, and GM doesn't have to fix it or pay out. headstone, "Chevrolet Corvette Transmission Issues" #59, 11 Mar 2008 2:52 pm Though with the Corvette, the problems just start at random, without any ... 2008 corvette 6 speed problems

I purchased a 2008, and have encountered shifting problems. When the car is cold there is a wash board action when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd . After about 15 miles the problem is better but not gone. The dealer showed me a letter from chevy saying the problem is normal and to take no action. The lemon law states that they must attempt to repair the ... Read More

I just bought an LS3 with the dual mode exhaust a month ago. I had it tuned on a chassis dyno a week after I bought it. With the dual mode exhaust it pulled 390hp on the dyno, stock. According to the dyno tech, the exhaust seems to be worth 10 hp at the wheels. The sound when the extra pipes are open is simply awesome, and the car is nice ... Read More

I own a 2002 Dodge Viper and I feel the Viper sometimes never gets the credit it deserves and this article does it justice. It is a super mean car that is not real friendly but will get your adrenaline flowing. One thing that I noticed which actually can be considered flattery is the door to front end profile of the 2003 and up Vipers (changed the body style in 2003) ... Read More

In the interests of accuracy, our region of the Viper Club sponsors an annual dyno day for many of our owners. HP and TQ numbers vary so much. I would like to know why the tests rely on 'published' numbers - instead of doing their own tests. Trust - but Verify !!! Let's see the REAL numbers. RWHP.. and RWTQ. 2000 GTS owner.
Today is the 1 year point, and just over 15,500 miles of Daily Driver Duty + a couple of longer “out of town” trips in my C6. So, I decided to share the experience and my expectations of the next year of C6 driving here. Car: 2007 C6 Coupe, 3LT, A6, ‘Base Suspension’. The 1 foot rollout is a standard acceleration measurement. The NHRA drag racing rules stipulate it in their standards, and most every major magazine uses it to compare the acceleration of cars. Look up aftermarket performance meters, or to any of the automobile magazines when they discuss their testing methods. I was surprised that Edmunds DIDN'T do a 12" rollout in their testing, but they don't. So their numbers are more ... Read More

Never heard of the 12" rollout and doubt Car and Driver or Motor Trend use this. They often comment about their "best times" being achieved by dumping the cluth at 2500 or 3000 or 3500 RPM. Agreed that one is certainly not looking for bumps but they are there. Road America is a good example. A very smooth track but just at the apex of turn 1 there is this "bump" ... Read More

Good point about recovery going over a bump - I used to have a viper gts about 5 years ago and yes I race scca and have been thru skip barber schooling as well - but I will never forget how skittish the viper was when you hit even a small bump in the road, it was nerve racking. The slower acceleration times at Edmunds are because they do not use a 12" rollout that some other magazines do. The rollout takes off 0.2-0.3 seconds from the 0-60 time, so subtracting that difference gives you closer times to the quicker magazine runs. Danica may be a good race car driver, but she doesn't appear to know too much about American performance cars, plus I'm not looking to recreate a situation ... Read More

Pretty much mirrors car mags comparos except this is the first time I have seen 0-60 times over 4.0 for the Vette. Oct. Motor trend featured a comparo where Danica Patrick did the driving. In that article the Vette and Viper both recorded 3.7 in the 0-60 but the Viper turned 11.7 in the 1/4 vs. 11.8 in the Vette. Danica also commented that the Vette was more stable in high ... Northeast Corvette Dealers

I am looking to purchase a new 2008 Corvette. Does anyone have any recommendations for Chevy dealers in the Northeast that give "good" deals on Corvettes and also good service departments? I am aware of Kerbeck. I am located just west of Boston but am willing to travel for a good deal. I appreciate your responses. Thank you, Jim

Yes, I feel they could make a better corvette. Let's start with the LS3. 30HP is not much of an increase. We all know that 30 HP increase is not the true output. There is much fugging there. If they are going to step up at least move the HP to around 450HP. I know if they had as much HP close to the Z06 then what the use of the Z06. I ... Read More

Now have to see if I can find a test drive as well, of if they will get some at Spring Mt. for the classes. Randy
