I have never experienced anything like what you are describing – nor have I read about anything similar, and I have monitored the largest “Corvette-focused” forum for over 3 years. Good luck, and please post the resolution? Regarding the noisy roof – there is a TSB: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1554872&highlight=roof+tsb But I would not let a Dealer do what is described. I did the fix described here – and it reduced the noise on ... Read More

I drive a 2007 Corvette convertible which just rolled over to 13k miles. I am having continuing issues with what my service rep (who is a friend) calls the 'sway bars'. I put it in the shop months ago for a rattling type noise that I thought was then coming from the driver side front end. At that time they felt the noise was from the rear 'sway bar'. During that ... I own a 2002 Dodge Viper and I feel the Viper sometimes never gets the credit it deserves and this article does it justice. It is a super mean car that is not real friendly but will get your adrenaline flowing. One thing that I noticed which actually can be considered flattery is the door to front end profile of the 2003 and up Vipers (changed the body style in 2003) ... Read More

In the interests of accuracy, our region of the Viper Club sponsors an annual dyno day for many of our owners. HP and TQ numbers vary so much. I would like to know why the tests rely on 'published' numbers - instead of doing their own tests. Trust - but Verify !!! Let's see the REAL numbers. RWHP.. and RWTQ. 2000 GTS owner.

Replying to: pmc4 (Dec 07, 2007 8:52 pm) "The V6 Camry gets 19 MPG city, whereas the Chevy Tahoe hybrid gets 21 MPG city." Apples to oranges. The Tahoe is a truck that uses engine/fuel management devices that are not acceptable in a mass-market family sedan. You claimed that GM has superior hybrid technology, then why didn't they use it in the Malibu? I proved you woefully wrong with a comparison ... Read More

Only when Porsche and Ferrari develop their own cheap plastic interiors, notchy shifters, numb steering, and leaf-spring suspensions can they cease envying the exalted Chevrolet. Well put. The one issue I had ( 2007 Coupe - trouble w/A6 trans. ) was addressed with reasonable speed & efficiency by the dealer where I bought it. The 1 foot rollout is a standard acceleration measurement. The NHRA drag racing rules stipulate it in their standards, and most every major magazine uses it to compare the acceleration of cars. Look up aftermarket performance meters, or to any of the automobile magazines when they discuss their testing methods. I was surprised that Edmunds DIDN'T do a 12" rollout in their testing, but they don't. So their numbers are more ... Read More

Never heard of the 12" rollout and doubt Car and Driver or Motor Trend use this. They often comment about their "best times" being achieved by dumping the cluth at 2500 or 3000 or 3500 RPM. Agreed that one is certainly not looking for bumps but they are there. Road America is a good example. A very smooth track but just at the apex of turn 1 there is this "bump" ... Read More

The slower acceleration times at Edmunds are because they do not use a 12" rollout that some other magazines do. The rollout takes off 0.2-0.3 seconds from the 0-60 time, so subtracting that difference gives you closer times to the quicker magazine runs. Danica may be a good race car driver, but she doesn't appear to know too much about American performance cars, plus I'm not looking to recreate a situation ... Read More

Pretty much mirrors car mags comparos except this is the first time I have seen 0-60 times over 4.0 for the Vette. Oct. Motor trend featured a comparo where Danica Patrick did the driving. In that article the Vette and Viper both recorded 3.7 in the 0-60 but the Viper turned 11.7 in the 1/4 vs. 11.8 in the Vette. Danica also commented that the Vette was more stable in high ...
