Good catch starrow but unfortunately that special extension has expired as of Feb. 2008, so I didn't mention it. HOWEVER, now that you brought it up, I'll post it anyway and maybe he can lever the dealer or Chevy if he wants to spend the time to do so. Bulletin No.: 05081 Date: February 08, 2006 SPECIAL POLICY Subject: 05081 - SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT - ELECTRONIC COLUMN LOCK SYSTEM Models: 1997-2004 ... Read More

Buy what you like, don't let one guys posting get your shorts all bound up there junior. Don't be ashamed you got an automatic, enjoy it. No need to be so defensive. I have many automatics in my lifetime, just not in a sportscar. I think you will find many end performance cars without auto transmission though. Plus, you left out the St. Louis Corvette statistics for auto/manual? Poor data analysis. ... Read More

  • Depends on the year

I'm just driving a coupe so what I've heard is hearsay. There was an oiling issue in 2001 but I think it was ok by '02. Other than that they seem fairly bullet proof from the ones I see on track, and that has been many. The other issues are just the standard ones that apply to all Corvettes: the column lock issue, several solutions but Chevy did a recall on ... Read More

According to the chevylaunch website which is accessible for dealers only. They said that Bowling Green is capable of producing 33,000-34,0000 Corvettes per year. They are estimating 15-20% will be Z06. Supplies will be tight. Dealer a :) llocation is based on 2005 years sales. Chevy stated that there will be some certified Corvette dealers who won't get a single Z06. The difference between the 2001 and the 2006 is the ... Read More

  • Misinformation!

Written by: skeezix on Aug 13, 2004 1:50:35 PM

Post #284 is spreading misinformation. Chevy might be playing catch up with some of its cars, but not with the Corvette.      The LS2 is a 6.0 liter, not a 6.2 as described.      Chevy has not taken a long time to come up with a 400 hp engine, not compared to other car manufacturers. Maybe Charts2 forgot about the LS6, the 5.7 liter 385 hp engine that came out in 2001, then ... Read More

First off, not all Chevy dealers have Corvettes. Dealers get an allocation based on prior sales which they seem to do a lot to keep. This tends to freeze out dealers that didn't push in the past who now want to make sales. Checking the allocation is one good first step with any dealer. That is, if you can get a straight answer, not all are very forth comming. I got ... Read More
