That is the same story repeater over and over and over again. There is no known problem. Your are the first one, etc, etc , etc. If they admit there is a problem then they are on the hook to repair the thousands of other vehicles with the same problem. I have repaired several Colorados with the is same problem. Mine had the problem and I just cleaned and adjusted he ... Read More
Hello stephanierad, I'm sorry to read about your Colorado's brake concerns and hope that the repair at your local shop goes well. All the best, Sarah GM Customer Service
"As a matter of fact, the vehicle computers are HARD WIRED and the computer program is burned into a chip. The only way you can change the programming on them is to REFLASH the memory chip..." Hi Dennis, I don't believe this is entirely true. I'm not intimately familiar with automobile computers but I do know a bit about them in general. Granted much of the executable code on these BCMs, ... Read More

Isnt it ironic though, that I told her to check the window and locks b4 i got there? The only reason I knew that was because of this site. Yeah nothing personally against you guys, I know you are trying to do some kind of job on behalf of GM. The truth of the matter is the Chevy rep in our area made a very bad call when I had the initial ... Read More
I have to chuckle with this "Customer Care"represenatives trying to drum up business for their dealerships. How about arranging a recall on the truck? The "we're sorry with your frustration" reminds me of those banking ads with 'Peggy'. "Um, yeah, my colorado doesn't start, the driver's window doesn't work, the fob doesn't work, I've taken it to the dealer three times, they've replaced the BCM, the battery, the blower resistor, the ... Sarah. THNX for your concern! took care of the cust.serv. problem a year ago traded the 07 P.O S.(Colorado) off on an 07 Jeep Liberty and LOVE it! No rude, disrespectful service manager telling me "we don't care about your problem." "take your business somewhere else." I have to agree with the previous poster. Bot the Chevy hack but the person saying get rid of the Colorado and never buy another GM product. I've followed the posts since there were only like 40 or 50 of them. Now there are over 500. I really liked the Colorado but finally gave up and bought a Toyota. I never in a million years thought I would ever buy anything ... Read More
YES get rid of the P.O.S.!! And never buy another G.M. product. Trust me you won't be sorry. After Obama motors took over, the company just DOSEN'T care how they or thier dealers talk/treat thier customers. I was a 20 yr. die hard Chevy fan but the Colorado took care of that! That truck should get a lot better mileage. I've got a 2000 S10 with the old-tech OHV 4 cylinder engine. It's a regular cab, automatic and I have a truck cap on the bed. I bought it in Dec. 2007 for $6,600 (taxes, etc. all included) and it had 52K miles. I consistently get 20-22 MPG around town and 25 MPG on the highway. It now has 64K miles. You should ... Read More
You guys do know that there was a SB on the fuse block, right? When I had my initial problem with the window/fob/battery, they initially nailed me for a new $450 BCM, assuring me that was the problem. Two days later, same problem. When I said, "Put the old BCM back in", they were like, "Oh that was bad anyway". Then they gave me some scam excuse that the battery was ... Read More
Sorry to hear about your problems Mark. I don't know how much time you'd had to go through the 450+ posts here, but your truck has all the lemon symptoms, the driver's window, blower, BCM, tail lights. If you haven't experienced it yet, there are also huge problems with a fuse block, the engine head, instrument panel, door locks, blower resistor, dead battery, CD player that doesn't work. I've been following ... Read More
That is a great post, one of the best and most informative on the problem. It makes sense and it sounds like logical troubleshooting. I wish you had posted it back in 2007 before I took the Colorado in for service to the local Chevy dealer. Of course the Chevy dealer said, "Don't believe ANYTHING you read on internet, we're the experts..." Uh-huh, yeah, right. If you still own a Colorado ... Read More
Ray, you have the same problem that most of these 400 posts are about and it is a problem must Colorados and Canyons have and one that Obama Motors has "never heard of" in the 5+ years it has been happening. If you take your truck to a dealer they will shoot in the dark and replace components like the BCM until the problem resolves itself until the next time it ... Read More
Caron, I have a 2005 Colorado that was having issues with starting and my wife took it to our dealer in Salida, Co. to have them look at it. When they drove it out, they said they could not find anything wrong with starting, but all of a sudden the drivers window wouldn't go up and the door locks wouldn't work at all. The guy did get the window up so ... Read More

they convinced me that purchasing the 2007 Chevy Colorado would be great. They take care of their customers. My battery died in under a year. Tires wore out in 15 months. "You know what snaproll1, when you start dealing directly with GM then magical things do happen." Been there, done that, got the teeshirt. Actually I got a "Jelly of the month club", 4 oil changes and a tire rotation "valued at $390 dollars!" from Chevy. That was not very "magical". Perhaps things are different now that they are bankrupt. " Moral off the story quit being a jerk and give Christina ... Read More
I was one of the first posters on this thread with the door lock, starting problems, BCM replacement, fried battery, blower resistor, fusebox issue. I have to say, since the summer of hell with the truck in 2007, outside of the head replacement, the truck... has been doing ok. Well, I did lose the heated seat on the driver's side last winter, but it is 6 years old. Could be the ... Read More
I'm very surprised that people stay faithful to a product that fails on such a grand scale. In my last post I commented on my satisfaction with earlier Toyota products. In 1990 the Toyota I bought was bullet proof. The 1998 Corolla was up there at 90%. Although I found that car annoyingly underpowered for freeway travel, I didn't keep it long, I bought a Mazda. In 2003 I bought a ... Read More
Well, I had the same issue a couple years ago. I'm not sure if you went through all the old posts but here's an update. It's a common problem with these Colorados and Canyons. The FOB and driver's window stops working and the battery goes dead. The dealer replaced my BCM (Body Control Module) for a few hundred that did nothing. They also "mentioned" there was a service bulletin on the ... Read More
I baught my 2006 5 cyl Colarado in January 2007 as a new vehicle. It runs fine now, but I only have 20K on the engine, since I own and drive two other cars. My problem is that my warranty ends in about 7 months. I don't want to be stuck with a $3000 repair bill, but I love the truck. I called the dealer and was told that my VIN ... Read More
Murrays auto had one that way in that price range. I would rather step up and pay the addional cost. I hope that is why the factory one is dying after only 1.5 years. ... Read More
I got mine at the local advance auto store. They check your battery and install the new one for free. It was sort of expensive I thought but not as expensive as you got quoted. I paid $95 I think it was... Cheers.
Need replacement battery for 2007 chevy colorado LS 2wd 3.7L I am finding this to be much more difficult then past battery purchases. Interstate quoted 163. Sears said dealer only. Dealer 135. Does anyone know where I can get a battery good quality at a fair price.
Does anyone have any experience with replacing the wheels/tires in a colorado/canyon? I just got a 2007 regular cab in Nov.
All vehicles have problems. Honda has had theirs too. Toyota is having big problems with the new Camry and is not standing behind them, putting off the customers and saying nothing is wrong. It is supposed to drive this way. I can remember Honda doing the same a few years back. At least the General stepped up to the plate. I had a Chevy Tracker that was almost 2 years out ... Read More

First-off, I don't own a Colorado, but I've been eyeing them since they first came out last year. Currently, I drive a 2001 Ford Escape XLT V6. Nice small(er) SUV with sucky gas-mileage, but it hasn't been too problematic otherwise. The reason I posted is that I've got friend who's a mechanic at a local Chevy dealership. He's pretty current on what's happening at GM, or at least so he seems ... Read More
I really like the whole Chevy Colorado thing! It looks like the rear seat area on the 4-door models will be bigger than the S10 and that is nice. There will be a lot of combinations to choose from and that is nice. I love the idea of relatively small and high-tech engines! Performance and Fuel Economy can and should co-exist. This is why I would like to request that Colorado ... Read More
