Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon Electrical Problems

2005 chevy colorado, vacuum leak

My 2005 chevy colorado started idling rough and burning alot of gas, after I hit a deep pot hole driving about 8mph. Will not stay running when I first start it in the morning unless you constantly mash the gas pedal. I took it to Auto Zone they hook it up to a diagnostic reader, it showed 3 different code numbers all having something to do with a vacuum leak. I have 88000 ... Read More...

Rough Idle, Dead Batteries and Dead Blower settings...

SOLVED! I rented a Trailblazer for a week while out of State, same kit setup with phone, radio and batteries charging from my inverter, this vehicle is pretty much the same as the Colorado but has a voltmeter in it showing 14V at idle in the rental place. So I'm watching this thing and by day three, the engine is starting to idle up and down and the voltmeter is showing ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Colorado flipping out [mrwebman]

OK, so I'll take the blower problem out of the mix and just get a replacement resistor pack. Good, one down. Now, I cleaned my MAF sensor today and it made no difference whatsoever to the way the engine idles. The engine is fluctuating between 450 and 700 rpm at idle so this presumably must be the AIC? sensor or a vacuum leak as the engine light code suggests. My 2006 ... Read More...

Re: 2005 Colorado flipping out [duart]

OK, we have the same problem. We are going to figure this out! It's not the battery, I just put a new Optima Yellow in and the issues continue the same. It could be the alternator although last I had it checked it was putting out 14V. This was a spot check, not a monitoring over any driving time. I am getting an occasional code... "rpm does not match the engine conditions." ... Read More...

Re: V8 Colorado [jfritsch]

"If you must go with a chevy (gm card points etc) or need a V8. Please consider the Silverado Full size (Truck of the year) where gm put the effort. The Colorado is about last in its class in the mid size behind the Tacoma, Frontier and disregarding true 4wd, the Ridgeline. A quick inspection and test drive of them will make this obvious. With deals of about $4000-6000 ... Read More...

Re: Frontier best small truck, Colorado lagging [poncho167]

The Colorado is abysmal in quality and finish. The 5 cylinder engine rounds out the list. One is down to the Tacoma, Frontier and Ridgeline for something in the mid size segment. Possibly the Dakota if you need to tow but then you can get better deals and quality in the Full size Chevs/Fords than the Dakota. If you want quality in GM you have to go with the Silverado/Sierra ... Read More...

Re: Frontier best small truck, Colorado lagging [jfritsch]

"The Colorado is abysmal in quality and finish." Says who? I am aware that they have had some reliability issues with some 2004/2005 models regarding valve springs and premature tire failure, but I am not familiar with quality and finish. I have seen and driven several of these trucks and they are a very good truck. The Colorado will be redone for 2009 from what ... Read More...
