Nice looking but too many problems
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z71 LS 4WD SB (3.5L 5cyl 4A)
Review
Got this truck and it was great. The promise of an inline 5 engine to save gas seemed promising but it burns gas hard. The first thing to go bad was the air conditioning, it would just stop and only the highest speed (4) would work and the others would start when they want to. Then there was a problem where the brake lights would stop working, had to take it in to the dealer to fix these problems a lot and just the brake switch is OK now after we found there was a recall on the brake switch. The engine has this problem now that the dealer claims to have fixed twice where the RPM drops low/stalls and causes overheating cause engine fan spins too slow and the lights get dim.
Favorite Features
4WD on the fly, the styling, windows work without key in ignition if door was not opened, with a lot of weight in back didnt seem to have much problems.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the suspension problems. I cannot press the gas pedal on any bumpy roads or it feels like it's about to spin out, and ride is much too bumpy even for a truck, drove a tacoma and felt wrong choice was made

Nice small truck
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Extended Cab Z71 LS 4WD SB (2.8L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Gas mileage was at 18.5 mpg until i installed the k&n air filter, then mileage went to 21.5. Have used it to tow 6x12 U-haul trailers with amazing results, plenty of power and gas mileage stayed good. It's not like my old F-150 but more economocal to drive. Only had two warranty issues so far. Front sensor on ABS and squeaky rear brakes, which the dealer took care of both.
Favorite Features
Nice radio system and easy use of interior controls.
Suggested Improvements
Seats could be more comfortable for long drives. Four wheel drive selector switch is easily miss-hit while tuning radio.

Nice but not like my prior 1997 c/k1500
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z85 LS 4WD SB (2.8L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I wished I never traded my 1997 CK1500. That truck gave me hell of problems but was worth the 5.7 performance engine was issues were cleared under warranty. Not the fuel costs though. I put over 300k on that truck and decided to buy the 2005 Chevy Colorado with many of the bells and whistles to satisfy driving needs. Well, I made several complaints on the craftmanship build of the metal of this truck. It flexes way to much IMO on the highways. Got just thank you but Colorados are safe. Other than that, absolutely no mechanical problems, or body. Fuel cost vs my 97 difference is 3 gals per commute day. Performance, you can live with it for near v6 type engine I got.
Favorite Features
Sunroof, OnStar, and XM.
Suggested Improvements
Bring back Bose system, a solid body, and improve engine and performance with fuel economy.

GM fails again!
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z85 LS Base 4WD SB (2.8L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I grew up in a GM household and as an adult, I too only drove GM cars for years. Then I decided to try a Honda to see what all the fuss was about. I was so shocked by the superior quality and reliability that I never went back to American...until now. I needed a work truck and something to drive on camping trips. I honestly only bought the Colorado because it was so much cheaper than a comparable used Tacoma or Frontier. After 6 months of driving this truck, Ive decided to sell it and look for a Toyota or Nissan. I've had to repair the transfer case, replace the clutch, replace relays, replace windshield weather seal, etc. I'm going back to Japanese. I know I can count on their quality!
Favorite Features
It was cheap. But that's not much consolation considering how much I've spent on repairs.
Suggested Improvements
Everything about the Colorado must improve, in order to truly compete with the Tacoma and Frontier. It's not even in the same league as those trucks

2005 that has given me no problems
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z71 LS Base Rwd SB (3.5L 5cyl 4A)
Review
My daughter and I fell in love with the Colorado crew cab on first sight and I have not been disappointed. We drove it home the same day we laid eyes on it. Did the recall on the brake lights and dealt with the ac switch but I have had no other problems. It is a perfect size for me and my big yellow dog that thinks the truck belongs to him. Gas mileage is much better when I pay attention to my speed.
Favorite Features
Red color, Z71 package, tinted windows, chrome running boards and the 5 cylinder has proved problem free so far. I have an 05 with 104K miles on it so Red gets a lot of road miles.
Suggested Improvements
Fix the AC switch so it doesn't go out, extend the warranty

Not as good as a Toyota
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z85 LS Rwd SB (2.8L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought this truck instead of a Tacoma and wish that I did not. My full size GMC Z71 was better on fuel, better comfort, and better made. I average 16.5 mpg in Va. I got 17 - 18mpg on the 5.3l V8. The truck is noisy, and the interior does not appear that it will hold up. This will be my last Colorado.
Favorite Features
Crew cab, and 4 wheel drive works great.
Suggested Improvements
Interior, power of 3.5 not what 4.3 was.

Worst new vehicle purchase I've made
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z71 LS Rwd SB (3.5L 5cyl 4A)
Review
I had the vehicle in for warranty work 11 times. Electrical problems since early on that the dealership said they couldn't find; replaced 5 headlamps, 4 brake lamps, and the majority of interior lights while still under warranty. Other items replaced: power window motor, heater control switch, rails for front seat. Today I took it to get u-joints replaced, third front end alignment, rear brake shoes. Mgr said these "shoes" were most expensive he has seen! He said all parts for it are high. Watch out if you need front rotors replaced; make inquiry!) gas mileage 13/15.(4 cyl, sticker said 18/25) At present, pwr windows, locks, mirror control, 5 int lights, 3 ext lights not working. 62K miles
Favorite Features
Easy to get in and out of, nice looking design, "oil catch" for clean oil changes, large 4 dr cab
Suggested Improvements
1. redesign front rotors, way too costly design when having to replace or turn them! 2. radio design (had to replace entire radio because of burned out "preset" lights) 3. Improve gas mileage, Silverados get better mileage!

Great Small Truck
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Crew Cab Z71 LS 4WD SB (3.5L 5cyl 4A)
Review
I leased this truck over a full size truck for the cost, better mileage and added space in the garage. It was a great choice as it has met every task given with a far less expense of the full size trucks. I have pulled trailers, hauled materials and even been off road a few times all the while satisfied with the purchase. Given gas prices I love being able to drive a truck and getting 18 mpg in the city. I wished I would have purshased the truck instead of leasing it. I definitely would have kept it.
Favorite Features
Locking tailgate, overall looks, ride, handling, mileage and towing/hauling capabilities.
Suggested Improvements
Increase the overall length enough to allow for a few added inches of leg room in the back seat without taking any more space from the bed.

2005 Colorado
Vehicle
2005 Chevrolet Colorado 4dr Extended Cab Z85 LS 4WD SB (2.8L 4cyl 5M)
Review
This vehicle's performance is much less than I expected. Gas mileage is nothing to brag about. The four wheel drive buttons are poorly designed in there location. The engine noise is terrible. And because of being unable to keep the front end lined-up, your tires only last around 15,000 miles. I will never again purchase a small Chevy pickup.
Favorite Features
Great looking truck.
Suggested Improvements
Engine: Design and noise. Interior: 4wd buttons access, seats, carpet grade Exterior: Stronger front suspension.
