Review

I bought this truck new in 2004. I have had no real issues with it. One of the seat knobs broke (my fault) and it was recalled a couple of times, but I have had no electrical problems or engine problems. Some of the people on here amaze me - I mean, what do they want? Not a single manufacturer makes a vehicle that doesn't break. People seem to think that Toyotas are better because it says Toyota on it. Well, Toyota didn't stand behind the engine in my Tundra when it went bad. This Colorado has been the best truck I've owned.

Favorite Features

4-cylinder gets good mileage and is spunky. Very fun to drive with sport suspension and manual transmission.

Suggested Improvements

How about a braking system that an owner can service themselves - front rotors have to be turned on vehicle and are very expensive to replace if not turnable.

I bought the Colorado as a demo with 8K miles. The only item I had to replace was an oxygen sensor that I replaced myself for $60. I take very good care of my vehicles and the truck still looks and runs like brand new after 100K miles.

Favorite Features

Hefty appearance, big wheels and tires. Cruise works very well - doesn't lag on hills. OK sound system.

Suggested Improvements

Don't get the traction control. It doesn't work and can even be dangerous. Fan squeals a little. Paint is a bit soft.

Had the truck for 4 years and never had any problems. Got good gas mileage and enough towing power to pull a fishing boat. Wrecked/totaled it this winter in icy weather, rolled once landing on its wheels - with the engine still running. Tough truck that was built well, definitely got my money's worth and am looking to buy another.

Favorite Features

Truck was perfect for someone who didn't need a full size, needed decent mileage, and enough power to pull a boat and drive through mud hunting.

Suggested Improvements

Different child restraint system. The one in the truck worked, but was an odd set up and cumbersome to use. Anyone with kids and a carseat would understand if they tried to use it - not a deal breaker in my book though.

I bought new in 7-03, thought that since the S-10's this would be better. This is single-handedly the worst vehicle I ever owned out of 10+ GM products. The 5 cylinder had no power and even worse fuel economy. The worst is the front end, Isuzu product that is junk. Replace your front brake rotors and you'll know what I mean - the design is ridiculous. The GM book rate is 6+ hours to remove a rotor. Then the flex hose to the rear brakes broke down internally and the micro rubber particles jammed up the rear brakes and the ABS system. I traded it in before I paid the approx $1700 for the replacement. I called GM with this complaint, they never called back! Premium gas only or sensors lit daily

Favorite Features

Front seat was fairly comfortable.

Suggested Improvements

Get rid of the engineers that designed this truck! Get rid of the Isuzu front end. Get some low end in the motor. Put better brake components on it. Make it capable of using regular fuel without all the motor sensors coming on due to fowling. GM wouldn't make the dealership refund my repl gas cap $s

I have driven Fords for 30yrs this is my 2nd Chevy. This truck is great. Well pleased. Good on gas, 3.5 motor 21-23 around town, great for 4x4. Chevy built a great truck in this line.

Favorite Features

Run great, smooth ride, nice interior.

Suggested Improvements

Keep it like it is, maybe plush up the seats a little.

I purchased this truck used in 2006. After just a few hundred miles I saw I was in trouble. Running interstate speed, the truck would quiver so bad you were unable to see ot the rearview mirror. It had pleanty of power, but really loved the gas. With gas prices over $4, it had to go.

i had to let my S10 go due to penny pinching. but I loved the truck. I did not expect the Colorado to be as good as it is but the 2.8 is great for mileage and power and the sound system is the best stock I have heard yet.

Favorite Features

The 2.8 is enough to carry the truck with out useng a lot of gas.

Suggested Improvements

None that I can think of

Bought this used with 49K miles 5 months ago, now has 55k miles. The guy that traded it in thought the truck had electrical issues because blower speeds 1-3 would cut out and the CD player wouldnt eject. I bought the truck with little fear being that Im a technician. Tracked the blower issue down to a loose connection at the connector on the blower resistor. The CD drive was jammed with crumbs/dust, and just needed to be cleaned and lubed. Fixed both at a cost of $0 (probably $500 otherwise) and the truck has been great since. No leaks anywhere and still feels solid. I average 21 in the city, and 25-26 on the highway with the 4 cylinder/M5 combo.

Favorite Features

Exterior design. Fuel economy. Smooth shifting 5 speed. Crew cab design

Suggested Improvements

Improve interior. 4 cyl power only comes into concern when trying to pass on freeway. But GM is offering the 5.3 V8 in '09. Wish they would offer it with a manual though!

Review

I own a 2004 Colorado extented cab ZQ8. I love my truck. The only problem I'm having is the AC works good on 4 but on 1,2,3 don't hold your breath. I have 62,000 miles and I still get around 24 - 27 mpg. This truck has the get up and go. I turn heads and when I'm on the freeway people move out of my way. I'm not sure if it's the yellow that makes them move or if they are letting me by just to get a glance of the beauty

Favorite Features

It's hard to pick just one. I love all the features of my truck.

Listen carefully- I want to get the word out- this truck is awesome! I bought a like new 2004 2.8l 5 speed. It has 75,000 miles and drives like a champ- this is proof this truck has good quality. I use it to haul my motorcyles and pick up materials for my weekend projects. It's comfy, the stick shift has great position and feel to it and it shifts smoothly! This little engine is great on gas and once you get moving it hums. Great stereo. Fun to drive!

Favorite Features

Style, stick shift (position and feel) roominess, great on gas, comfort, stock stereo rocks! Spray on bed liner

Suggested Improvements

Needs a key hole for passenger door, window handles should be higher, cup holes deeper
