I drove a base model 5-speed 2008 Cobalt LS sedan this morning. I had just stepped out of a 2009 Corolla base 5-speed not 15 minutes before, so I was biased toward the new redesigned Corolla walking onto the Chevy lot. The Corolla felt extremely solid and easy to drive. The salesperson was cordial and the car was very impressive compared to the used 2007 Corolla CE 5-speed that I test ... Read More

That could be true, but the sales have dropped-off. That is pretty standard with the life-cycle of any car. All the things I see indicate that 2009 will now be the last year for the current Cobalt platform. It looks like car will get a substantial re-design and the name plate may or may not stay. Sales people can be good sources if information, but they can also be bad, especially ... Read More

I love that the Cobalt has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System(TPMS), but if you buy new tires like i did (even though the factory tires we're new) the TPMS has to be relearned in order for the DIC(driver info center) to read the correct position of the wheel. I have learned the hard way. My dealer where i purchased the Cobalt told me only after i asked. He said that the ... Read More

Which engine and transmission on your 2008? You don't hear of any real chronic issues aside from maybe some interior and suspension noises here and there and your occasional power assist steering issue on 2005's. The only issue I've heard of on 2007 2.2L, autos is a crazy surging you get when the torque converter tries to lock. Mine does it and I've heard of about 3 others who have the ... Read More

Power windows/locks are an option to the 3i, or part of a trim package like the Touring package. If you can wait awhile to buy, the 3 is getting a Touring VE package (kinda like that on the 6) in January. It's supposed to be like the Touring "plus" with 17" alloys, and I think standard safety package (side bags, ABS) plus some other goodies. If it's anything like the VE ... Read More

Did the Cobalt LS AT you bought for $12,100 have a list price of $12,100, or did you buy it for $12,100? (I noticed a 2008 Cobalt LS base model with AT lists for $15.5k.) Likewise, just because a Spectra with AC and AT lists for close to $15k doesn't mean that's what the negotiated price, with rebates, is. I agree though, if you are going to spend $15k for a ... I keep reading about how poor the Cobalt is in comparison to other machines in its class. Wotta shame. While it certainly isn't a Porsche or Cadillac it seems to be a vehicle that is satifactory for those venturing from point A to B. GM pays little attention to it though, and instead of improving it they simply continue to churn it out, knowing that many will buy it because it's ... Read More

Hi... As far as the Cobalt tracking in snowstorms? I'm curious about that too. I hope someone in the know is able to answer that one for us. I also have this strong feeling that for 2008 Chevy will add electronic stability/PLUS traction control, as an option, with its higher priced versions of the Cobalt.
