A new flasher control will not solve the problem because it's made for filament bulbs. Your LEDs draw much less current than the standard filament bulbs so the thermo-electric flasher doesn't heat up enough to flash slowly. The solution is explained very well at www.superbrightleds.com from which I recently received LED turn signals. The solution is to install a load resistor across one of the bulb sockets so the control unit ... Read More

I finally made my deal and have the 2007 Cobalt LT for nearly a month. The MSRP for the car with only automatic transmission is $15,635 before taxes. Of course I was not going to pay that. I had a trade-in that was worth only $400. The first offer was $14,265 with trade. I didn't like the number and I told the dealer. A few days later I made an offer ... Read More

The new Lancer will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show. I wandered over to Mitsu dealer and looked around and I my feelings are that they have a pretty decent product line. Not as attractive as Toyota or Honda and better than Dodge, Kia or Chevrolet. Excluding trucks of course. The Lancer may be an old design, however, I would take it over a Cobalt any day. Interesting to note ... Read More

Chevrolet Cobalt: Climate Control/AC

)) "Max AC is achieved by hitting the "recirculate" button (middle one of three)." (( Thanks for the update. The 2006 Cobalt sales brochure shows the middle button activates the rear glass defogger and the far right button engaging/disengaging cabin air recirculation. I guess that's wrong.

Max AC is achieved by hitting the "recirculate" button (middle one of three). It keeps cooling the interior air instead of hot outside air.

Good news - there's a button in the HVAC control area that selects "recirculate" as a counter to the default fresh air intake setting and it'll definitely frost yer caboose. (that button has a cabin icon with a horizontal "U" to engage the recirculation mode) I suspect you weren't aware, so the system happily brought in hot/humid outside air which compromised the cooling performance. GM has always done two things right ... Read More

I'm considering buying a new 2007 Cobalt. I rented one recently and liked the car. One thing I noticed is the A/C is somewhat anemic, and the fan speed doesn't seem too powerfull even on high. I didn't notice if there was a Maximum A/C button setting. Anyone else notice this with their Cobalts?

What is the difference between the regular Acura and the other. Isn't it the same engine? The Type S has 201 HP without using a blower. The base engine RSX is 155HP. Torque is 140# compared to 139#. I am sure the 2007 will be pumped up even more. The gas mileage is about the same between RSX and SS Cobalts. Cobalt gets a couple less MPG on the freeway. The ... In the latest issue of Consumer Reports the Cobalt SS beat the Acura RSX and the Scion tC. I like that. ~~end quote~~ That is interesting. Was that the RSX Type-S they compared it to? You do know a 2007 RSX will be coming out next year. It may not be the best time to get an Acura with a model change coming out soon. That said the resale will likely ... Read More

  • Only Two Small Cars Passed the IIHS.org side impact tests

The Insurance Institute's test involves crashing a pickup truck or SUV height vehicle, with contoured front end, into the side of the tested vehicle at 31 mph. This is different from the NHTSA's side impact test, which uses a mid-size passenger car as the impacting vehicle. Since the point of contact with an SUV is higher than that of a car, and since they weigh more, very few vehicles can pass ... Read More
