Review
Bought the truck, and Ill never get rid of it, as the tags show its a 5.7 ltr with a 5 speed manual. The only transmision for a truck. To much power is never enough, Havent found any thing I couldnt tow with-in reason. Great looks and design, is as solid as the day I bought her. No mods to performance yet, but with 170,000 miles on her why should I. I also Did a dealer inspection at 150,000 miles and the engine and transmission are quote "not even broke in" unquote.
Favorite Features
Power from the Vortec. the 5 speed tranny, 4 wheel drive, comfort, the whole package. I like the whole truck.

Please...LOL wouldnt trade it in on a new one

Bought this truck used Im very like it much with evrything but except computer control on board ,34000 mile give me hard time on the road because computer and lucky I bought Extend warranty onthe truck so 1500 for repair ,so when it hit 39000 mile again it happen about computer this time $1800 . That it Im not going to buy it again , im looking for Jappan truck ,it more relies and good and last long time im going to buy Toyota truck from now ,So tired If that happen about computer on board even if you buy it with warranty because it sit on the road at middle somewher so you can feel it the truck good or not!!!!

try to improve Computer control and everything relate with it ,like if the gas cap loose not tight Check engine ligh will on on gas cap seal rubber not seal enough will the light will on and you nerver know what going on until yuo hit the dealer !!!

Review
The 1998 Chevy Regular Cab Shortbed Pickup Truck is 'bulletproof'. All aspects of this truck far outdistanced what I had expected. The mileage is great, the appearance is very eye catching and the interior is well thought out.
Favorite Features
I particularly like the Instrument Panel design and layout. I think the instrument panel is the best design that Chevy has put out to date!!!! The mechanicals of the truck are worked so that the 'we' mechanics can work or add aftermarket components easily.
Suggested Improvements
I would suggest 'spray-in' bedliners.

Review
At 116k, she's still running strong. Interior is easy to clean, dash board is really cheap and squeaks from time to time, 3rd door is noisy, rear windows are noisy, very reliable overall. Planning to keep this truck well past 400k on the original engine. 1/4 of the way there.
Favorite Features
Ultimate utility and reliability vehicle, easy to clean interior, cloth interior doesn't look cheap like in the new trucks, 350 V8 is an unstoppable workhorse, extremely capable 4x4.
Suggested Improvements
Beware the bad tranny (mine went out completely at 80k and it was never neglected), Z71 shocks wear poorly (replaced mine with Edelbrock Performer IAS), cheap dash, 3rd door window noises.

Review
Other than a noisy fuel pump, the truck has been extremely reliable. Several dealers have said replacing the fuel pump would not quiet it down as it is inside factory specs. With a 5.7 V-8, the mileage at first was 13 city, 18 highway,I installed a K&N air filter & put a Tornado in the intake and I started getting 16-20 MPG. Incredible increase in H.P. & torque.
Favorite Features
Plenty of room inside of cab with the 3rd. door extended cab, along with the ability to haul a large load.
Suggested Improvements
Cheap looking dash w/ main air deflectors in the center was being hidden by a large bottle in the cup holder. That should have been corrected. Chevy was way too late in coming up with a 4th. door.

Bought this truck brand new. Drives nice. I've had it 4 years now and it still drives like it's brand new. No squeaks or rattles at all. Still real tight. Upgraded the stereo. Great and easy to clean; I have dogs. I also put much larger tires on it so it looks tough.

A/C blows cold but there is a HOT spot right where the driver's head is located. Bad AC circulation for driver. Cup holder blocks A/C. Sometimes it's difficult to get it into 1st gear.

Review
I bought this truck used with about 20,000 miles on it. Since I've had it I've been very pleased with my truck. It's black with chrome wheels and is really sharp, even Ford guys turn their heads to look at it. So far the only major complaint has been the muffler. For some reason the stock muffler has a vibrating noise when the truck is cold. The muffler was replaced under warrenty 4 times and it still does it. I suppose I'll just have to live with it. This was the last year for this body style, you would think they'd have figured it out after 10 years! Enough complaining, I really love this truck. The 4.3 six with the 4 spd auto gets me 18-21 mpg! No B.S.!

Pleasure to drive. 3rd door is a good feature. Ride and quality very good. Gas mileage okay at 15 for a 4wd. Very reliable, no problems.

5.7 litre engine, lots of power and torque. smooth ride on highway. Visibility is very good thru large windows.

This has been the most reliable vehicle that I have owned. Gets about 15 mpg in town. Comfortable with plenty of interior space.
Favorite Features
Third door is very handy, especially with a baby or with groceries.
Suggested Improvements
Fourth door option would be nice.
