Review

I bought this truck new. I changed oil every 5000 miles, washed it once per year, performed regular maintainance (shocks, brakes, muffler, water pump, sparkplugs, cap, rotor, wires, hoses, air filter, tires, starter, battery, fuel pump) She just keeps going & going & going. No doubt this is the greatest vehicle I ever bought for the money!! Vehicle was built in Canada. Awesome truck, Like a Rock!!

Favorite Features

Trouble light in engine compartment, very handy. Very comfortable ride, and bench seats are great.

Suggested Improvements

Wish the seats could recline, but still very comfortable.

This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. After 182,000 miles there have been no major repairs. Transmision still shifts perfect and engine is strong and uses no oil. Great fuel economy and drives great.

Favorite Features

Color. I love the blue/silver combo. Reliablity. Dependablity. Fuel economy.

Suggested Improvements

Door handles.

Review

I have the 4.3L V6 with a 4L60 automatic. The engine has good torque however, it is not especially powerful. Conservative driving typically yields 18-21 mpg on the highway. Towing a maximum load of 7,000 lbs the truck performed pretty well. However, this probably exceeds the tow rating of the 1/2 ton so for heavy towing I would highly recommend an auxiliary trans cooler and a trans temperature gauge. The long bed provides excellent cargo capacity. I have hauled up to 3 motocross bikes and all required tools and gear. Overall this truck has served very well with no major maintenance required so far.

Favorite Features

Recently added 18" wheels with 245/55/18 BFGs which greatly improved handling. Bullet proof Engine. Engines and transmissions interchange with most GM trucks 1988-1998 so upgrading and repair costs are relativley cheap.

Suggested Improvements

Could use more power from the 4.3 (later Vortecs have 200 hp v. 160 hp). Interior is a little cheap but has worn fairly well. The seat foam is not good and wears down quickly.
