Written by: candie on May 30, 2005 6:46:07 AM
If there are any mechanics out there who are reading this, PLEASE HELP. My car had a new compressor put in last week. It has has a lot of work done to it (see my previous posts above-2 of them). Now it shimmies like a Bronco (and I don't mean the Bronco vehicle). There is now a new noise (LOUD click click) from under the hood and I have no clue ... Read More

The pre-'95 (old body style) Cavaliers weren't so bad. Chevy had some head gasket problems with the first few years of the new body style starting in 1995. Meade

New to the Cavalier (sorta)
Written by: danz28 on Aug 23, 2002 1:37:37 PM
I got me a 2002 Chevy Cavalier (base) coupe about three months ago. So far it's great! Even though I didn't get any options on it, it is fully loaded. Plus, with the $2500 in rebates, not counting my trade in, I got in for around 10K with 5 year warranty. Try to get a Honda or Toyota with standard CD player, air, ABS, for that! I say sorta because my ... Read More

Dweezil "I' WITH YOU ON THAT ONE"

This Teo guy critcizes anyone who doesn't agree with him. Because a Cavalier in his books is beneath him. His liking is for Audi's and BMeers. On the Impala board all Teo talks about is his Chevrolet Impala how good GM and Chevrolet are and then comes to this board and slams everything about them. He's hard to understand. He posts over 200 times a week on the Impala board.(time to ... Read More

That's it. Bye-bye, bow tie!!!
Written by: mdaffron on Nov 6, 2001 8:54:58 AM
My wife's 1995 Cavalier is about to go bye-bye for a Mazda Protege. No more Chevrolet or GM for us, ever. Aside from things like a new alternator, new headlight switch, new seat cushion, new a/c compressor, new a/c and heat hoses and three radios in only 54,000 miles (enough problems, right?), here's the last straw: March 2000 (44,000 miles): Head gasket replaced under GM recall allowing one replacement in 100,000 ... To Cavalier TRASH
Written by: truckdude1 on May 2, 2001 7:29:23 PM
we owned a 99 cavalier, bought the sob new..and its garbage..it only has 36555 miles and broke 6 times, its hard to start and tends to idle noisly and rough, the tranny isnt smooth at all, we just bought ourselves a 1995 TOYOTA COROLLA with 126,917 miles with Auto and A.c. runs like new, unlike chevy, i would never get an unreliable piece of junk like the cavalier.

I need some historical/background info on cavaliers - I'm in a bind
Written by: wronglyaccused on Apr 6, 2001 2:26:10 PM
I was referred to this site from Chevrolet Customer Service, they answered some of my questions, but they thought the users and staff of this site might be able to fill in the gaps... Here's the deal - Around Christmas-time while visiting family 700 miles from home, we got pulled over in heavy traffic. The Police officer maintains we were going 89 mph, while our speedometer clearly stated 74 (speed limit ... Read More

Malibu...
Written by: vocus on Sep 27, 2000 5:36:43 PM
It's easy to say "get rid of the car" and all, but the car he's speaking of (1995 Cavalier) is paid off. Isn't it nice not to have a car payment on a car? Well I am sure Meade feels the same way. Plus, the car has less than 50K on it. It shouldn't be blowing anything yet. It's just an excuse Chevrolet uses to cover up their poor manufacturing, and ... Read More

I'm afraid you got a lemon too, dindak.
Written by: mdaffron on Sep 12, 2000 9:41:22 PM
The problem with the head gaskets in 1995 through 1999 Cavaliers is documented. They even issued an unpublished recall on the head gaskets for '95s and '96s that covers the head gaskets for 7 years/100,000 miles. BTW, I just heard back from the dealership. It was a broken bolt and TO MY AMAZEMENT AND DISBELIEF, they admitted that they probably overtorqued the bolts back in March. Therefore I'm not going to ... Read More

Matty, please reconsider your decision
Written by: matto2000 on Aug 28, 2000 3:03:13 PM
Matty, please listen to my warning before buying that Cavalier. Nearly three years ago, I celebrated my 16th birthday and used my life savings (at the time) to buy my first car, a brand new 1998 cavalier. That may very well have been the worst decision I ever made. Within the car's first 4,000 miles, it contracted a very annoying and rather dangerous stalling problem, and just to clarify it's an ...
