1998 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe Z28 2dr Coupe

Review

I'm the original owner of a 1998 Z28 Camaro and it's been a really great car. I've had it now for 7 years and have been driving it every day and in all types of weather. It's an absolute hoot of fun to drive. The LS1 V8 is a lion of an engine and it has incredible acceleration and handling - even to this day. It's also been very reliable considering how these cars always seem to have a bad rating in this area The only drawback is the difficulty of getting in and out of the car

Favorite Features

The V8 and rear wheel drive. Excellent performance; good reliability

Suggested Improvements

None - GM no longer makes the Camaro. Hope someday they bring it back

Review

I had been looking for one of these cars for about a year, since I was very picky. I have t-tops, 6-speed manual, leather, Monsoon audio... the works. I have done a few mods including a full header back exhaust with a flowmaster cat-back, and a K&N intake as well as a B&M short shifter. I also installed iRotors cross-drilled and slotted rotors with hawk pads. It also has the handling package. This car is a blast to drive, but it can be a tame cruiser if you want... I never want it to be a tame cruiser though. It has tons of go and plenty of whoa thanks to the new brakes. The stock intake and exhaust are very restrictive, so if you modify, go after this first.

Favorite Features

5.7 Liter V8. 305 horses is definately a conservative rating! Ridiculous low end torque and high end power. You can pretty much just leave the car in fourth and do any speed. I love the manual transmission and t-tops. Stock clutch grabs like a little kid in a candy store.

Suggested Improvements

GM's obsession with plastic interiors needs to stop. I would also say that GM should only make the car in a manual transmission, and equip all cars with the push-button ASR.

Review

If you want a car that will be faster than most porsches, run with many supercars, brake in the same distance as a race prepped porsche gt3 (famous for brakes), but are on a budget, this is the car. Do some some basic mods to unleash this cars true potential. And by the way, a Z28 has the same engine as a Corvette (exact same), and Z28's will dyno at least as much hp as a C5, if not more. The engine was seirously underrated, so don't beleive the stats. Throw on some mods, and you'll be showing up vipers, corvettes, porsches, other german supercars, and possibly even a ferrari 360, or lambo gallardo. Handling could be better though.

Favorite Features

Acceleration requiring a neck brace, and power to chirp your tires at 80+ mph.T-tops are a lot of fun too.

Suggested Improvements

Interior needs some serious improvement, handling is ok, but I guess thats why most cars taht are just as fast are so much more expensive. And oh yeah, NEVER slam ur finger in one of those huge doors. Trust me, it stinks and you will find yourself in the emergency room.

Review

The Z28 has plenty of hp and accelerates very well. It is a great drive once you're up and away; you can cruise comfortably and with confidence at high speed. Only problem for a lot of folks is getting in and out of the car since seats are so low and doors are very long. Overall great value for a muscle car and reasonable maintenance.

Suggested Improvements

Ingress and egress could be improved. Spare tire is a real pain to get out and put back.

This vehicle is deffinetly a highway car. Rides superb and has ample horse power for a nice sunday drive.

Favorite Features

Love the new LS-1, plenty of pep and lots of power. No real flat spots in the throtle. Suspension is great and makes car a blast to drive.

Suggested Improvements

Have switchable traction control.(robs horsepower) With exhaust and some cold air, lese baby's would fly.
