Chevy Blazer Starting and Stalling Problems

  • Never Again Will I GM

    Written by: s10junkowner on Jul 31, 2011 12:13:44 AM

My 1988 s10 blazer did exactly this, Stall, cool down, and start back up. I tried everything, even the fuel pump. Still wasn't a fix, traded it in for another 1998 s10 blazer. Then about in 2004 I bought a 2002 ZR2 blazer and what takes place at 118K? $500.00 Fuel Pump! I had it replaced, and then only at 123k, This stalling issue arises. What do ya know?!?! I'm back ... I have a 2004 Chevy Blazer with push button 4WD. Last winter in the NE we had a ton of snow and I used the 4WD a lot. Once winter was over I attempted to push the button to engage 2WD and it would not go. My buddy who has a 2500 HD Silverado told me how to do it and it worked. The problem is that now when I push ... Watch your temp gauge. I have had two of these do this, and what happened was the thermostat failed in the OPEN mode, which is good for not burning up the engine, but not good for warming up the engine fast enough, which on a 2001 (I think. From 2002 on, for sure) will set a check engine light. Buy a good Stant thermostat and have it put in. Very simple ... Read More

My Service Engine Soon light came on yesterday. I took it into Goodyear and asked for a diagnostic and an oil change. Oil had not been changed since Sept. 09 (I know, I know) so I thought that might be the problem. The tech did the oil and filter change and the diagnostic. He told me that the coolant temp sensor, thermostat and gasket, radiator hoses, a coolant flush and new ... Read More

I do know the hatch, door locks and mirrors are on the same circuit. If you have checked the accesory fuse(Ibelieve that is the one), It would be the relay. The problems you have with those is that they draw a lot of power to operate. That's why there is a relay also and not just a fuse. If I remove the power accesory fuse, those same things do not work at all. ... Read More

I have a 1991 S10 Blazer 4WD, 4WAL ABS brakes. I have the "ABS Blues" and it will cost about $800 to replace the EHCU (electro-hydraulic control unit) and bleed the 4-WAL ABS brakes. ABS brakes are the most stupid and useless feature that the federall government has made the automakers put on their cars. However, my Blazer is 18 years and is in such good condition with pefect paint, body, ... Read More

The dipstick is not seated all the way down, but won't go down and won't come up. It was checked two weeks before I had the oil changed at one of those quick lube places, and now it won't come out.

Spray some silicone around it and let it soak in. It must have bene a very long time for that to stick.

Just noticed one thing. The recall stops with 1997 vehicles. You'll probably have to pay for it on your '98. I received a letter in February 2003 referred to as a campaign, not a recall. The campaign# is C02054 for replacement the windshield wiper motor controller circuit board if I had experienced wipers that worked intermittently or not at all. I had this trouble, which the dealer took care of in ... Read More
