We have the same problem. Had oil changed in rear differential and it seemed to help for a couple of months. Next is transmission service. It feels like the jolly green giant just grabs the rear of my blazer and yanks real quick. That is the only way I can describe it. Good luck with that and if I find anything else out I will post for you.
My 1988 s10 blazer did exactly this, Stall, cool down, and start back up. I tried everything, even the fuel pump. Still wasn't a fix, traded it in for another 1998 s10 blazer. Does anyone know of a Chevy or aftermarket gas tank that is 20 gallons instead of the 15 gallon tanks that came with the gas guzzling vehicle? How about an external spare tire carrier?
just put new tranny, throttle position sensor,cam shaft sensor, in my 2002 4wd blazer LS. ran fine for a day revs up when coming up to a stop and stalls. any ideas?
Watch your temp gauge. I have had two of these do this, and what happened was the thermostat failed in the OPEN mode, which is good for not burning up the engine, but not good for warming up the engine fast enough, which on a 2001 (I think. This could be a real stretch but I had a similar problem where I had trouble getting the truck to start every few days where I had to turn the key a couple times, then would stutter when first going, a couple times just stalled out. Tell them you are speaking with an attorney/lawyer. If you have the money to do so, please do. I hope you installed a theromstatic fan clutch for a 2002 Blazer with A/C and it turns counter clockwise. AC Delco #15-4684. If you are going to install the raditor yourself, get the best available which is an AC Delco 20-837 at a retail cost of $309.79. I know this sounds stupid, but are you sure the cooling system is full? Each of the issues you discribed can also show up with air in the cooling system. When you accelerate hard, do you hear gurgling in the area over under the glove box (heater core)?
Thanks for your reply, I'll look into the damper. The temperature gauge has been going higher than it normally does, more like it's about to overheat, until I hit the interstate and begin to accelerate, then it lowers back to normal.
Julie, there is an air mix damper in the ductwork under the dash. I haven't had to work in this area, but it does sound like it could be your problem. These vehicles do not have the conventional heater control valve, so water is always flowing through the heater core. It has 120,000 miles and yes I still use the orange antifreeze. It has been flushed and the heater core was replaced in December. Julie
How many miles on the Blazer, and has the antifreeze been changed and cooling system flushed. Very important, this vehicle uses the long life Dexcool antifreeze and cannot be mixed with conventional ethalene glycol (the green stuff).
Never go to a dealership to get service or repairs on a vehicle that is out of warranty. Dealerships have their hands full with warranty work on the new cars they sell and they discourage work on cars that are out of warranty. First off, you need to pull the rear wheels and check the pads for wear. I am betting that it is time for a rear brake job. Second, when you do that brake job, you should replace the rear calipers. hey has any one had this trouble I have checked fuses and replaced mir 3amp fuse that should run the tailgate and door lock and power mirrors as per chevy but still no go. key fob will not open up tail gate as well. any ideas ? thanks Doug :(

Well glad it worked out for you...you were probably right..a partially restricted filter, low fluid, missing seals...could have been any of them.
All is happy with the tranny. Dropped the pan and found only the typical fine residue. The pan had not been off before, and the original filter was still there. Update - Dealer checked for codes, nothing there. So, dumped the programming from the PCM and did a fresh upload with all the current updates from GM. Shifting is much crisper, but the engine went into rev limit just as the tranny shifts out of first under WOT. How about this one? Transmission shifts great. Not too harsh, no slippage, shifts up, shifts down, no problem. Engages as soon as shifted into drive or reverse. No weird noises, no warning lights. Hi Lance. I think you are right about the sensor location near the converter. I usually go to Auto Zone for diagnosis and parts. They can tell you exactly where it is located and the part is about 1/3 of a GM replacement sensor. I buy Bosch replacements for my 96. It's a simple job. New to this, hope this posts OK. Looking for advice on removing the rear rotors on a 2002 Chevy Blazer, 4WD. I suspect that the emergency brake pads are holding the rotor on. My assumtion is this is a combination rotor / drum design and there is a small ridge that the internal pads are catching as I try to remove the rotor. Can anyone confirm and offer advice? Thanks
2000 Blazer is stuck in 4wd also at 98k. It occurred prior at 38K, took it to the dealership and called Chevy they extended the warranty and covered the cost, you can try that route, you should still be under warranty. Please let me now what it is, if Chevy is helpful and covers it.
I also have the roar, I just purchased My 2002 blazer a few days ago and I intend to bring it back to the dealer in a few days to get this checked out. Doesn't seem to me that this would be a normal condition, power loss and loud engine noise? I doubt chevy sent them out of the factory that way, or intended them to in any case.
