Review

I bought the Blazer when it was 4 years old and had 64000 miles. It ran good, but within one month, I brought it in for a new exhaust system, o2 sensor, fuel injection system, and transmission issues. Since then, I have brought it to the dealership on three different occassions which needed to have other mechanical parts replaced. No major issues but many minor problematic parts have had to be replaced. Buy an extended warranty if you get one because these will use it up. Otherwise, the SUV rides decent and has always been dependable as it always starts and has never leaked fluid.

Favorite Features

Heated leather seats with the LT trim are excellent in the cold of winter. Also has driver info display which is good for determining mileage and when to fill up.

Suggested Improvements

Suspension weak, constantly needs to be fixed. Terrible gas mileage.

When I first bought it - I was excited to have an SUV becasue of the space (I upgraded from a '92 Cavalier) But from the start I had problems getting it started (which turned out to be a fuel pump issue that we figured out 3 years later). I, like a lot of other people on here, had fuel gauge problems, even after the pump got fixed - and I replaced the wheel bearings and ball joints twice! Gas mileage stinks - even for an SUV - and it doesn't really handle that well. I was always replacing brakes and rotors -and the spare tire blocking all the rear visibilty was brutal. If you are not in 4WD, it's terrible in the snow - and even in 4WD it's marginal at best.

Favorite Features

Privacy glass, 4WD, space

I'm glad they discontinued this model. But I'm kind of soured on the whole Chevy experience now, even though that was my third. I'm going Hynudai or Honda.

90,000 miles and still going strong. Blazer has some competion though, my 86 S-10 is still going at 175,000 miles. I wanted a full size truck but will be happy hauling the family, plowing through the snow and pulling the camper with this little powerhouse ... for now. Of course gas mileage isn't as good as my Cavalier. It's a truck. Even if I could get 50 mpg I sure I would want 51. Fuel pump went out, 1 rear speaker and passenger seat lever went out. All three under warranty. Nice to see GM has increased warranty to 5 years/100,000 miles. Must be pretty confidant.

Favorite Features

American car manufactured by an American company by American workers. Comfort, bdy style, workhorse.

Suggested Improvements

Gas mileage of course. Armor paint. Paint didn't stand up to my 3 year old and her rock.

Review

Have had good luck with this vehicle. Gas mileage has been less than expected. I average about 15 MPG town or highway. Hood cable and passenger reclining handle broke but from reading the reviews I am not the only one with these problems. A little rough on the off road travel but it gets the job done. I think that it is a great vehicle for the price.

Favorite Features

Auto 4WD, works great when it is icy here and there

A very nice vehicle for 4 people. Handles well, but ride a little rough. Transmission went out approx. 68,000m. Then driver power window motor stopped working. 114,000 heater has stopped working. I enjoy this vehicle. I got a lot better gas mileage with a K & N air filter.

Favorite Features

Handling, comfort, attractive.

Suggested Improvements

Better transmission and a little smoother ride.

This vehicle has been nothing but problems and repairs. Has 80,000 miles and my mechanic tells me this thing is having problems that shouldn't be happening until well over 100,000 miles. Replaced altenator twice, replaced fuel pump, gauges don't work, every little thing in the passenger compartment rattles when you are going down the road. Started changing oil at 2,000 mile intervals, because of the incredible amount of sludge I had draining from the oil filter when I would change the oil. Just an overall piece of junk.

Favorite Features

The radio is loud enough to drown out the creaks and rattles in the interior while driving.

Suggested Improvements

More reliable engine. Don't be so cheap in the interior, spend a few extra cents on good fasteners, so things stay together. Get rid of the cheap plastic seat recline levers, and put in metal ones. Have had to replace three of those cheap things. Finally clamped on some vice grips, only took 1 pair.

Review

I bought this car in June of 2006 with 64,000 miles on it. By July 28, it was in the shop for a new heating core and radiator problems. It is now September 18 and it has been back in the shop since Labor Day getting a new motor. Labor Day we were taveling to see family, and it broke down on the side of the road. The rods and bearings were shot among other things. I love the features of this SUV, but should have had it inspected first. The mechanic says that Blazers are known for these type of problems. Warning: it does drive like a truck so expect rattles, squeaks, and a little rough riding etc.

Favorite Features

Leather/heated/memory seats. Auto dimming mirrors. Computer climate control. Back seats fold down without removing the head rest.

Suggested Improvements

Gas mileage! 16-17, but I knew it would be bad. Too much plastic interior. Less rattling!

Driving in the snow has been a great experience. Although MD does not get much of it, the large snows proved to be quite enjoyable to drive in using the 4 wheel drive (both Hi & Low). The switch from 2 wheel to 4 is virtually seamless with the button controls. The height of the chassis allows the ease of going over high piles. 6 cylinder engine provides a great get-up-and go and the power to tote heavy loads around. Easy to maintain vehicle.

Favorite Features

Fold down seats. Rear windows roll down all the way.

I have a black 2000 ZR2 Blazer with 53k on it now, had 24k when I bought it a little over 3 years ago. I like the looks and features, but have had a lot of the same problems others here have posted. Ball joint on passanger side went bad, seat level on passanger seat broke. Tons of rattling of panels of doors, and in the back, spare tire blocks 96% of view to the rear. Gas gauge broke, heater core went, cd player went dead, and the sun roof had to be changed out 3 times. The MPG for this SUV stinks and the power seems to be bad during the hot summer days, at least mine is like that. With all those problems, I still like the car, but would trade it in if I could.

Guess it was good that GM killed this SUV.

Review

This is a solid vehicle for the price. I purchased mine when the '03 TrailBlazer came out and the price on them was great. Keep in mind that now as I consider replacing it, I see the opposite end with the low resale value. I I purchased mine with 26,000 miles and three years later have 98,500 on it. It has been solid. I've had to replace both front hub assemblies, the rear pumpkin cover, replace the door hinges (the top one broke off) and replace the license light bulb wiring. The total of the repairs was around $2500, which is why anyone buying a SUV should definitely consider an extended warranty. It has great legroom (I'm 6'5") and is wonderful in the snow where we get 150"/yr

Favorite Features

The legroom is great. It handles snow better than any other SUV/truck I've owned. The price is great when comparing the additional you'll spend for a similar equiped competitor.
